Trevor Nelson has returned to BBC Radio 2 after taking time away from the station to undergo surgery for a brain tumour.
The presenter was back behind the microphone on Monday, 7 September, describing his return as an important personal target following an emotional and difficult summer.
Trevor told listeners how much he had missed presenting the programme and thanked them for the messages they had sent during his recovery. He also expressed his gratitude to his friends, family, management and wife Pri for supporting him.
His return to Radio 2 will initially be gradual. Trevor said he planned to present shows on Monday and Wednesday during his first week back, before hopefully increasing the number of programmes he hosts the following week.
Trevor to miss Radio 2 in the Park
Although he has now returned to the studio, Trevor confirmed that he will not travel to Stirling for Radio 2 in the Park.
He admitted he was “a bit gutted” to miss the event, but said his programme would reflect the action taking place across the weekend.
Trevor also thanked DJ Spoony, Clara Amfo and Mark Goodier for presenting his shows during his absence. He used the moment to welcome Clara to the wider Radio 2 presenting team.
The broadcaster revealed earlier this summer that a brain tumour had been discovered following a routine health check. He subsequently underwent surgery and stepped away from his broadcasting commitments while he recovered.
Trevor normally presents Rhythm Nation on Radio 2 from Monday to Thursday between 10pm and midnight.
