Trey Songz presents Beccy with her own gold disc
Trey Songz arrived on his final day in London in an exceptionally cheerful mood. He made Scott and Chris honorary members of his “Trey’s Angels” fanbase and revealed that he had heard the programme’s recent discussion about whether the record inside a framed gold disc was always the advertised album. Instead of merely bringing one to inspect, he presented Beccy with her own personalised gold disc in recognition of her services to pop music.
Beccy was genuinely surprised, having said only days earlier that she would love to own one. Trey suggested hanging it behind her bed and joked that, in an emergency, she could break the glass and play his record. Scott and Chris were unable to check whether the correct album was inside without destroying her gift, but Trey assured them that this one was genuine.
Tour dates, two phones and a present for Beyoncé
Trey talked about his next European tour and almost read an unconfirmed itinerary directly from an email. He listed possible January stops including Stockholm, Copenhagen and several nights in London before remembering that the plans still needed approval. His two telephones raised questions about whether one was for work and the other for women, but he explained that he preferred the iPhone for apps and a handset with physical buttons for calls.
Scott hoped Trey’s friendship with Jay-Z could get a birthday present to Beyoncé. The proposed gift was one of Chris’s novelty nudie pens, although Trey was far more interested when told that a female version existed. He accepted the pen only after making it clear that Beyoncé would have to know it came from him rather than from the programme.
Trey’s money, family and pot roast
Listener questions produced unusually candid answers. Trey said the hardest part of his career was missing family events, including his brother’s recital and his young cousin’s fashion show, because touring and promotion occupied so much time. He knew what was in his bank account, watched his profit-and-loss figures and happily admitted that it contained a great deal of money, with more expected once he toured.
He said he showered several times a day, promoted the Rocawear Evolution fragrance in which he had a financial interest and admitted knowing every word of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe”. His favourite feature was his smile, which he believed warmed a room, and his speciality in the kitchen was pot roast. After Scott and the team debated whether that counted as a roast, casserole or stew, Trey left for Paris and Germany before returning to America.
Stupid Street names a celebrity
For Oh! What’s Occurring?, Stupid Street was asked to name a celebrity without time to think. Leanne Pinnock from Little Mix guessed that Lady Gaga would be the most frequent answer, while Beccy chose the Queen and Chris selected Justin Bieber. The people approached instead produced a scattered list including John Cleese, David Beckham, Joey Essex, Caroline Flack, Kim Kardashian, Drake and Eamonn Holmes.
Louis Walsh was the only name to emerge more than once and therefore became the answer. One woman named Reem chose him because his use of the word “reem” on The X Factor had made strangers doubt that it was genuinely her name. None of the team or Leanne had predicted him, so the 20 Danny Howard points went unclaimed.
Beccy and Chris reveal Scott’s private texts
Beccy and Chris used show and tell to read messages Scott had sent them privately. These included a warning that he was on his way but smelt of wine, his refusal to give the team free copies of his book, the verdict that an unnamed celebrity was “definitely a wet wipe job”, a request for meat for Grimmy and an Edinburgh message asking for the apartment address before remembering to wish Beccy a happy birthday.
Scott explained each one while protesting that he would now need to add a confidentiality notice to every message. In Real or No Real, the team learned that engaged couples can in certain circumstances marry after one partner dies in France, goosebumps are technically piloerections and Pumbaa was the first Disney character to break wind on screen. Bungee-jumping pandas and a story about Jo Calzaghe shooting a cheating French poker player were invented.
