Chris tests Terminator 2 and suspects a Britain’s Got Talent dog
The programme’s film experiment asked a simple question: could the famous Terminator 2 bar scene happen in real life? Chris was sent to a café to recreate Arnold Schwarzenegger’s demand for “your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle”, despite the obvious issue that there were no bikers, no pool table and no motorcycles nearby.
His first attempt was too polite. After studio advice that he needed to be more like the Terminator, Chris returned with his top off, copied the walk and repeated the line to a man eating an all-day breakfast. Nobody gave up anything, nobody stubbed a cigar out on his chest, and Chris concluded that the film was not especially realistic.
Scott also revisited a flirtation contest involving listener James, Hannah Berney from The Voice, Chris and Brianna. James had won attention by revealing he had once been one of several teenage Milky Bar Kids, while Chris’s strategy involved sending increasingly urgent tweets and asking Scott to intervene.
Later, Chris set out his Britain’s Got Talent conspiracy theory. He believed Pudsey the dancing dog might actually be a small person in a dog costume, arguing that the tricks were deliberately impressive enough to attract attention but not so impressive that viewers would immediately spot the deception.
The theory was enthusiastically extended into an imaginary troupe of people disguised as animals for the following year’s competition. As with the Terminator test, Chris had supplied a serious-sounding premise only for the programme to enjoy how quickly it fell apart.
