Beccy faces an Innuendo Bingo duel and Scott gets stuck in skinny jeans
Innuendo Bingo returned in competitive form when listener Elisa came into the studio to challenge Beccy. Both put water in their mouths as Scott played carefully selected clips, and the duel quickly became a wet, mascara-smudging contest rather than a test of anyone’s self-control.
Scott made no attempt to pretend there was a sophisticated outcome. The enjoyment came from the escalation, the state of the studio and the fact that Beccy had accepted a challenge from somebody who thought she could beat the show’s established Bingo player.
Away from the feature, Scott returned to the ordeal of trying on skinny jeans in a Brighton clothes shop. The jeans had fitted around his waist but proved impossible to remove from his legs, leaving him sweating, panicking and trying to reassure staff outside the changing room that he was fine.
The team collected comparable fitting-room disasters, including a listener who had needed help getting out of an outfit. Scott’s tale became funnier because he had been in the kind of shop he already found intimidating, surrounded by people he imagined were much cooler than him.
Chris also continued his narrator ambition, giving the day another strand of deliberately over-serious commentary about ordinary life. The show moved easily between a drenched studio game, Scott’s clothing humiliation and Chris’s grand career plans, all treated with the same affectionate lack of dignity.
