Scott meets Dolly Parton
Scott and Bobby Pryor had spent the morning interviewing Dolly Parton at a particularly grand London hotel.
Bobby said Dolly was even warmer than she had imagined and compared the experience with meeting somebody’s mother.
After leaving the real Dolly, they returned to Wogan House and found a Dolly Parton impersonator sitting outside the studio.
Scott said it was the first time he had met two Dolly Partons in one day.
A Jonas Brother crashes a wedding
Scott followed up the story of Joe Jonas unexpectedly appearing at a wedding in Yeovil.
The programme found somebody who had attended and confirmed that the encounter had genuinely happened.
Listeners then shared other celebrity wedding appearances, including George Michael briefly appearing on a hotel terrace in Cardiff to wish a couple good luck.
The Birthday Game: Gareth
Gareth celebrated his 60th birthday inside Wawel Castle in Kraków with his girlfriend.
He tried to find a quiet staircase away from tourists while playing the game.
Gareth requested music from the 1970s or 1980s.
His first spin was the Fugees’ Killing Me Softly, number one in 1996. He liked it but chose to gamble.
The second was Sister Sledge’s Frankie, number one in 1985. He rejected that too.
His compulsory final song was Elvis Presley versus JXL with A Little Less Conversation, number one in 2002.
Gareth accepted the remix and received one of Scott’s birthday balloons.
Jayde Adams
Jayde Adams joined Scott and remembered their earlier trip to Eurovision in Tel Aviv.
During that trip, Jayde had been bitten by a brown recluse spider, leaving her leg badly swollen and forcing her to use a walking stick.
Jack Dee had contacted her after seeing the photograph online and advised her to seek medical help.
Flying over Glastonbury
Jayde had experienced Glastonbury from 4,000 feet above the festival.
She and actor Joe Sims flew over Worthy Farm in a seated hot-air balloon while drinking champagne.
Jayde described seeing the full scale of the site from above as extraordinary and reminded Scott how central hot-air balloons were to Bristol culture.
Ruby Speaking
Jayde discussed her BBC comedy Ruby Speaking, set in a call centre in south Bristol.
Her character Ruby struggled to sell television and broadband packages but became deeply involved in customers’ lives and tried to help them.
The idea began around seven years earlier when Jayde and writer Abby Wilson visited a real call centre.
Jayde had expected the work to feel bleak, but met a former university acquaintance who appeared happier than she was.
That experience challenged her assumptions and became the basis for a warm comedy about friendship, kindness and finding joy in ordinary work.
Strictly memories
Scott replayed Jayde’s Flashdance routine from Strictly Come Dancing.
Jayde said somebody had tattooed the famous image of her leaning back in a chair covered in glitter across the inside of their arm.
She regarded the programme as a huge bucket-list experience but said she would not repeat it.
