Gary Davies’ listeners reveal the dogs who can’t resist a good theme tune

Radio 2 DrivetimeRecap of the show on

Gary Davies spent part of Monday's Drivetime collecting listeners' stories of pets who go wild for certain songs, sparked by a clip from Romesh Ranganathan's Saturday show. Gillian had texted Romesh a recording of her dog Sky "singing" along to Sam Ryder's Spaceman, and Gary played it on air before listeners flooded in with more. Emma said her German shepherd Keir howls along to Queen's Who Wants To Live Forever, while Andy in Somerset reported a husky called Mishka who reacts to Ed Sheeran's Sing. Gary mused on air that a future feature playing listeners' howling pets live on the radio "wouldn't that be fun?"

The Radio 2 Jukebox took on a Terminator theme to mark 42 years since the film's US release, with listeners voting in choices including Guns N' Roses, nodding to the gun-in-a-rose-box scene from Terminator 2, and Kraftwerk's The Robots.

The teatime pub quiz saw Bob, aka "Birding Bob", triumph with a perfect five out of five against travel presenter Bobbie Pryor's three, despite revealing his van had broken down just before joining the show. Bob, who runs a wildlife products business with his wife, correctly named Earl Grey, cows on malted milk biscuits and got closest on the notoriously tricky "how many holes in a rich tea biscuit" question, with the answer confirmed as 22.

Gary also reminded listeners that Jo Whiley was following his show with a special marking 20 years of Amy Winehouse's Back to Black, including an interview with producer Mark Ronson.
