Brat summer reaches Jeremy Vine
Scott enjoyed hearing Jeremy Vine explain Charli XCX’s idea of a “brat summer” to Gary Davies.
He decided the phrase had officially crossed into the mainstream once it appeared on Radio 2’s lunchtime current-affairs programme.
The Birthday Game: Jojo
Jojo turned 50 and combined acting with balloon modelling, balloon décor and glitter bars.
Her professional network included entertainers with names such as Magic Mr Steve, Tricky the Twister and Firebird Face Paints.
She jokingly excluded Balloons by Emma from the group because Emma listened to Radio 1.
Jojo liked 1980s pop, ska, Kylie, Postmodern Jukebox and Sabrina Carpenter.
Her first spin was a Des O’Connor number one from 1968.
A fellow balloon entertainer had warned her not to become overconfident and gamble all the way to the compulsory third song.
Katie Price’s Spinterview
Katie joined Scott in the spin studio for one of the most revealing editions of the feature.
She said cycling could become a new focus because a serious accident had left her unable to continue running.
After breaking both feet, Katie had been told she might never walk again and had gone through rehabilitation to regain her mobility.
Her parents were keen cyclists, and she hoped to complete the London-to-Brighton ride.
Surgery and exercise
Katie had undergone breast surgery only three weeks earlier, so Scott kept the resistance and intensity controlled.
She said movement was important for her physical and mental wellbeing and that she had returned to the gym at the beginning of the year.
Alexander O’Neal and an old wedding
Katie chose Alexander O’Neal’s Criticize as her warm-up track because it reminded her of growing up.
She had later appeared with O’Neal on Celebrity Big Brother and arranged for him to sing at one of her wedding-vow renewals.
Katie dryly observed that the renewal had not prevented the relationship breaking down.
No new engagement
Katie directly denied reports that she was engaged.
She said the relationship was only seven months old and that she had learned what a healthy relationship looked like.
There was no need to rush into marriage, babies or living together.
Handover
Scott handed over after listeners praised Katie’s honesty and openness.
