Steve Strange joins Scott to discuss the second series of Celebrity Scissorhands, the BBC3 show that pairs celebrities with amateur hairdressers and beauty therapists to raise money for Children in Need. Steve explains the format: celebrities are placed in a salon academy where they’re taught (or attempt to teach themselves) hairdressing and beauty skills, then treat both members of the public and other celebrities, who make donations in exchange. This year, Steve has been promoted from general helper to assistant manager, though he admits he’s not naturally comfortable with authority or telling people off.
The conversation covers some of the celebrities involved in the new series, including George Lamb (presenter), Ben Nicholas from Neighbours, Warwick Davis, and others. Scott and Steve discuss the kinds of clients who make the best subjects—those who are relaxed about their hair and understand the charity aspect.
