Eurovision rehearsals begin
The first Eurovision rehearsals were under way in Malmö.
Scott formally launched the Radio 2 sweepstake, assigning countries and acts to members of the station family.
He followed early reports from the arena, including staging, costumes and props that had not worked perfectly during the first run-throughs.
The build-up marked the point when Eurovision stopped being a collection of songs and became a live television production.
The Birthday Game: Louise
Louise turned 40 and admitted she had been pretending to be 29 for as long as possible.
She had filled the weekends around her birthday with celebrations but planned a takeaway and champagne for the actual Monday evening.
Louise loved pop music ranging from Neil Diamond to Taylor Swift and was less enthusiastic about house or dance music.
Her first spin was Norman Greenbaum’s Spirit in the Sky. She rejected it.
The second was Sugababes’ Freak Like Me, the first single to feature Heidi Range.
Louise described it as a great song but decided that her 40th needed something more special.
Her compulsory final song was Dexys Midnight Runners’ Geno, number one in 1980.
Louise accepted it and believed her family and friends would enjoy it more than Sugababes.
Madonna’s tour finale
Scott also marked Madonna completing 80 sold-out shows on her Celebration Tour.
The final free concert in Rio was expected to draw an enormous crowd, capping a tour that fans had described as one of her strongest.
Handover
Scott handed over after launching the Eurovision sweepstake and beginning the final countdown to Malmö.
