Hiding in the bathroom
Scott investigated research suggesting men spent around seven hours a year hiding in the bathroom for peace and quiet.
The reasons included escaping chores, avoiding children, getting away from a partner and using a phone without interruption.
Scott asked for anonymous voice notes from listeners willing to admit they had used the bathroom as a refuge.
Some treated it as the only room where they could close a door without being followed, while others admitted stretching a brief visit into a much longer break.
Christmas television
The Christmas television schedules had been released.
Scott looked ahead to the festive programmes and also discussed a new television format promising one of the largest cash prizes ever offered on British television.
The Birthday Game: Gail
Gail turned 67 and had effectively been celebrating through a series of lunches since the weekend.
She had recently met her friend Jen, whom she had known for 14 years after working together in a doctor’s surgery.
Gail loved travelling and remembered being chased away from a tennis court by a dominant macaque in Langkawi.
Her first spin was Westlife’s cover of Mandy. Gail rejected it.
The second was Baby D’s Let Me Be Your Fantasy. She admitted having danced to it during the 1990s but gambled again.
Her compulsory final song was Shawaddywaddy’s Under the Moon of Love, number one in 1976.
Gail immediately wished she had kept Westlife but accepted the result and requested the birthday balloon.
