22 November 2022: Air-fryer acoustics and an unusual listener confession

Singing into an air fryer

The programme asked whether anyone had ever sung into an air fryer.

The idea began with the unusual acoustics produced by speaking or singing into the empty drawer.

Listeners admitted testing the echo, recording themselves and startling family members who had expected the appliance to be used only for cooking.

Scott was less interested in recipes than in whether the drawer could improve a vocal performance.

Air-fryer obsession

Messages also reflected the speed with which air fryers had become part of everyday life.

People described cooking almost everything in them, arguing over cleaning and trying to persuade sceptical relatives that the appliance was worth the worktop space.

The feature became a running topic that would continue later in the week.

The Birthday Game

The day’s contestant selected from three number ones while Scott continued tracking the emerging statistics.

By this stage, more people had risked the final spin than accepted either of the first two selections.

Handover

Scott handed over after asking listeners to continue sending recordings made with their kitchen appliances.
