15 February 2022: Dan and Tom fooled the team on Brother or Lover as Tenerife’s viral catchphrase took over

“Very Good, Very Nice” had taken over Scott’s brain

Chris had introduced Scott to a viral Tenerife street seller whose high-pitched “very good, very nice” catchphrase was spreading across TikTok.

By the next day Scott was obsessed.

They had seen countless holidaymakers filming him around the island and wanted to know who he was, whether he enjoyed the attention and how they could get him on Radio 1.

The show asked anybody in Tenerife who knew him to help make contact.

The phrase was already being dropped into songs and links as though it had always been part of the programme.

Dan and Tom came from Portsmouth

Brother or Lover introduced Dan, who worked in healthcare recruitment, and Tom, a dockyard labourer and driver.

They had been on a family trip to Florida and a mates’ trip to Amsterdam.

Dan’s finest meal for Tom was turkey dinosaurs because he admitted he was not much of a cook.

They had recently watched the new *Scream* film together.

Tom was insured to drive Dan’s car.

Then came the question which gave the podcast its title.

Did Dan mind that Tom worked around so many seamen in the dockyard?

Dan said no.

Most of the team guessed brothers

Scott thought the family trip pointed towards siblings.

Producer Amy felt Amsterdam was more likely to be a brothers’ holiday.

Others thought the car insurance and cinema trip suggested a couple.

The vote ended with a narrow majority for brothers.

It was wrong.

Dan revealed Tom was his lover.

They had been together for five years and were planning to get married that year.

Once again, the pair had successfully used ordinary truthful answers to make the team overthink everything.

Listeners named their imaginary Netflix documentaries

Inspired by true-crime titles, Scott and Chris asked listeners what a Netflix documentary about their own recent behaviour would be called.

Suggestions turned everyday mishaps and questionable nights out into dramatic streaming-series titles.

A farmer’s antics became material for names such as The Charmer Farmer and The Larry Dairy Farmer.

The joke was imagining completely normal lives edited with sinister music and an ominous title card.

The Masked Singer went international

The quiz explored costumes from versions of *The Masked Singer* around the world.

Thailand had featured masks based on Pad Thai and pork chilli dip.

Mexico had used a jalapeño and tortilla.

Romania supplied some of the more unexpected answers.

Scott and Chris ended up wondering why the UK had comparatively restrained costumes when other countries were putting entire meals on stage.
