Scott declared war on tinsel

Scott opened by explaining one of his least favourite Christmas decorations.

Tinsel.

Too shiny.

Too messy.

Too old-fashioned.

Producer Amy responded by decorating the microphone area with it.

Scott looked at the studio as though somebody had vandalised his home.

The programme had found another festive subject on which nobody required a serious opinion.

Scott supplied one anyway.

Sophie and Tully arrived for Brother or Lover

Sophie worked in the beauty industry.

Tully was a welder and fabricator, including work involving brewing equipment.

The job immediately gave the team material.

Had Tully ever welded Sophie something romantic?

Yes.

A keyring with her name on it.

That sounded surprisingly sweet.

Then came the domestic clues.

Tully cooked for Sophie roughly every week or two, usually something like a roast dinner.

Sophie had cut his hair during lockdown and attempted skin fades.

They knew each other extremely well.

The relationship sounded romantic until it did not

Scott and Chris listened for tone as much as information.

The personalised welded keyring could be a boyfriend gift.

The regular cooking could be couple behaviour.

Lockdown haircuts could be either.

Then Sophie described Tully mainly as a great laugh.

Some of the team began hearing sibling energy.

The votes split.

The reveal:

Tully was Sophie’s brother.

The apparently romantic clues were simply evidence of a close brother-and-sister relationship.

Brother or Lover had done its job again.

The meatball man finally faced questioning

Then came the investigation the show had been threatening for a week.

Scott and Chris phoned the café.

Chris explained that on one Monday he had received six meatballs rather than five.

The following Monday he had received the normal portion.

Could the server explain what the extra one meant?

Had he been flirting?

The answer was not the romantic confession Chris wanted.

The server barely seemed to remember the incident.

It could simply have been a mistake.

Perhaps it was late in the day.

Perhaps there had been one left over.

Scott pushed for clarity.

The café worker remained politely noncommittal.

Chris’s great meatball romance ended ambiguously

Could Chris do anything in future to guarantee six?

No secret phrase emerged.

No special wink.

No offer of an ongoing bonus meatball.

The strongest conclusion was therefore also the least exciting:

the extra ball probably did not mean flirting.

Scott declared the investigation effectively closed.

Chris had spent more than a week emotionally analysing portion control.

The café had apparently spent no time thinking about it at all.

Harry Styles survived a particularly bad ASR moment

Don’t Look It Up used YouTube comments to identify music videos.

One clip involved a fish and comments around Harry Styles’ Adore You.

The transcript repeatedly substitutes a completely unrelated celebrity name in places, but the song and video context make the correct identity clear.

Other rounds included Adele’s *Easy on Me* and Shawn Mendes’ *Stitches*.

The Christmas section then asked who had covered *All I Want for Christmas Is You*, with versions from acts including Fifth Harmony and My Chemical Romance.
