Scotland had temporarily abandoned the show for football
The Euros were now dominating daytime listening habits.
Scott and Chris openly acknowledged that a large chunk of Scotland would not be listening live because a match was on.
They expected many Scottish listeners to catch up later through the podcast.
Rather than compete with football pretending it did not exist, the show increasingly incorporated it into the programme’s running jokes and music choices.
Chris became obsessed with his pizza oven
Lockdown had also given Chris another hobby.
He had bought a pizza oven and begun making pizza at home.
Scott immediately wanted in.
The conversation escalated into the pair imagining a joint pizza business.
Chris had already reached the stage where anybody using shop-bought dough barely counted as making pizza.
Scott had barely learned the hobby existed and was already discussing branding.
Robin returned with the bull catalogue
The real star of the episode was listener Robin, a cattle genetics breeding adviser.
Scott and Chris had previously discovered that Robin helped farmers choose which bulls should breed with which cows.
They immediately renamed the job:
cow Tinder.
Or farm animals go dating.
Robin had promised to send the actual cattle catalogue used in the job.
It arrived.
Scott and Chris sat with the physical book and began leafing through the available bulls.
The catalogue had statistics rather than seductive bios
Each animal came with breeding information, figures and characteristics designed to help farmers make sensible genetic decisions.
To Scott and Chris, the catalogue still looked suspiciously like a dating app.
One bull might be ideal for a particular herd.
Another might offer different traits.
Robin patiently explained the genuine science while the presenters treated themselves as two amateur matchmakers flipping through glossy profiles.
The title’s “bullocks” came naturally.
For once the show was literally talking a lot of bull.
The Who Game and forgotten Live Lounges returned
Monday also meant The Who Game and another Live Lounges That Time Forgot round.
The programme could jump from serious animal breeding to forgotten pop performances without needing a transition.
By this stage, that was simply the normal structure of the afternoon.
