Student unions enter the charts
After revisiting Loughborough Students’ Union’s version of Five’s “Keep On Movin’”, Scott and Chris discover that Teesside University has produced something even more ambitious. Its elected officers promote union services while introducing themselves individually over a specially written song.
Vice-presidents Georgina, Adam and Aimee deliver lines about welfare, education and activities with varying relationships to the original tune. Chris is due to DJ at Teesside on Friday and promises to play it, while Scott becomes fixated on the wonderfully direct refrain, “I love TUSU.”
An unusually loyal haircut
Listener Fraser reveals that his former girlfriend still cuts his long hair, three years after their two-year relationship ended. She was his hairdresser before they became a couple, remained in the role afterwards and now also cuts the hair of his current girlfriend.
Fraser still receives the full wash and head massage, creating questions about eye contact, tips and the conversations taking place around the chair. His ex has moved on too, making the arrangement less dramatic than it sounds, but Scott and Chris remain impressed by his loyalty to a trusted hairdresser.
Wednesday regulars return
Chris enters Bangers two-one behind after repeatedly failing to recognise songs Scott has already chosen. The feature now requires an increasingly serious memory of old selections as well as a convincing new track.
Alice Levine returns for Real or No Real after being displaced by Britney Spears. Her discussion of expensive tea, food and an unnamed famous crush rapidly becomes more interesting than the prepared stories, although she refuses to reveal the person’s identity.
