27 October 2017: PI James took his nan undercover at a ballroom class

James needed somebody who could blend in

Private investigator James returned with one of his most elaborate stories yet.

He had been asked to investigate a woman suspected of claiming reduced mobility while taking part in ballroom dancing.

The problem was getting close enough to observe the class without looking suspicious.

James needed somebody who would naturally fit into a seniors’ Latin American ballroom session.

So he took his nan.

She had danced when she was younger and was willing to become part of the operation, giving James a convincing reason to be in the room.

While his nan joined in, James used concealed recording equipment to document what happened.

He later compiled the material into his report for the people who had commissioned the investigation.

Scott and Chris were less interested in spy technology than in the fact that James’s nan had effectively become an undercover operative.

James also teased another story for a future visit involving infiltrating a stranger’s 40th birthday party while pretending to be an invited guest.

One Ghostbuster was actually the ghost

The dating conversation continued with listener Sinead, who admitted she was usually the person doing the disappearing.

She described meeting a man whose dating profile said he was six foot two.

When they met, she believed he was closer to five foot six.

The height discrepancy was not the only problem: she also found the conversation painfully dull.

Rather than formally telling him she did not want another date, Sinead simply stopped replying.

Scott and Chris had spent the week trying to understand ghosting from the victim’s side, so hearing from somebody who openly admitted doing it provided the other half of the feature.

Scott signed off for two weeks

Bangers completed the final regular show before Scott’s break.

He announced that he would be away for two weeks, with Matt Edmondson taking over the 1pm programme from Monday.

That meant Friday 27 October was Scott’s final edition of the month, explaining the absence of Scott Mills Daily programmes on 30 and 31 October.
