Bad Nans became a new feature
Scott had fallen into a YouTube hole looking for videos of older people behaving badly rather than clips of people pranking their grandparents. The search turned into a new feature, Bad Nans, celebrating grandparents who were still very much up for mischief.
Chris’s own nan Brenda was already a strong example after previously rapping on the programme, while listeners supplied relatives who stayed out late, drank with younger family members and generally refused to conform to expectations about how older people should behave. One caller described a grandfather in his seventies staying up until 4am in Spain and taking part in a lilo race across a swimming pool.
Russell Howard returned with a new show
Russell Howard came in to talk about The Russell Howard Hour, his new television programme. He explained that he wanted to combine comedy with the darker and more serious stories people were increasingly engaged with, arguing that humour could make difficult subjects easier to approach.
He then played Real or No Real against Chris. One claim said researchers working with Amazon expected technology to let humans translate simple dog noises within a decade. Russell believed it and was right.
A second story claimed H from Steps had lost more than £50,000 because fraudsters guessed his card PIN was 5-6-7-8. Russell rejected it as far too obvious and scored again when the story was revealed to be invented.
