Britney calls from Las Vegas
Britney Spears speaks from her Las Vegas base, where Elton John is staying nearby and a noisy party has appeared across from her room. She invites Scott back to her residency, which has gained several new songs since his previous visit, and introduces her ninth album Glory.
Britney describes the record as her best work and talks about the freedom to experiment, fail and try again with new writers and producers. Scott plays “Make Me…” and asks about rumours of collaborations and a possible Super Bowl appearance.
A wave defeats the security team
On a family holiday in Hawaii, Britney walked into six-foot waves as though entering a wave pool and was repeatedly pulled under. She jokes that her security team appeared content to let her drown and may need to be fired, although they apparently trusted her to escape.
She also remembers Justin Bieber arriving at her hotel room with his mother several years earlier. He looked about 13, and Britney asked who the child and woman were until an assistant explained. She now describes him as kind and unassuming, but dismisses reports that they are recording together.
The gold medallists return
Chris Mears and Jack Laugher bring their Olympic gold medals into the studio after winning the synchronised three-metre springboard. They explain that Team GB’s gold medallists received lie-flat seats at the front of the charter flight home, where champagne and exhaustion quickly took over.
The divers discuss Rio’s green pool, the small absorbent shammies used instead of towels and the hot tub that keeps muscles warm between dives. Their favourite village memory is Tom Daley pulling a sink away from the wall while brushing his teeth. The medals come in wooden presentation boxes, and neither Chris nor Jack is willing to bite the gold merely to test whether it leaves teeth marks.
