A Big Weekend voice
Scott returned from Powderham Castle with his voice still badly damaged. A day of silence had produced only a slight improvement, while listeners compared his deeper sound with David Hasselhoff.
The show replayed performances from Big Weekend, including Mumford & Sons closing Saturday’s main stage. Callers chose Stormzy and Bring Me the Horizon among their highlights, while Chris suspected Scott had found a new source of less predictable Battle of the Bangers choices after he won with A$AP Rocky’s “Wild for the Night”.
Danny replaces Chris Mears
Diver Chris Mears had been scheduled for Innuendo Bingo but remained abroad for an additional training camp before the Olympic trials. He promised to return once the demands of Rio preparation allowed it.
Danny Howard stepped in at short notice. The transcript’s familiar “Gary Lucy” joke followed him throughout the introduction, but Scott repeatedly confirmed that Danny was the person facing Chris. He aimed to reclaim his reputation for the wettest edition and produced a forceful game through clips from Springwatch, Big Weekend and familiar television favourites.
The WhatsApp Hunger Games
King Curtis’s group had expanded from the agreed 15 members to 19. Six friends were nominated for a new cull, accompanied by music from The Hunger Games.
Josh went because moving to London had reduced his involvement, while Kay participated only when an event suited her. Curtis then removed fellow administrator Pete to secure complete control. The final choice was between Melissa and Tim. Tim’s long friendship and former Formula 1 job saved him, while the quieter, free-spirited Melissa became the fourth departure.
Curtis immediately received a suggestion to add somebody for steak night but promised to resist. Scott warned that the remaining members might eventually create another group and overthrow him.
Charlie misses Exeter
Charlie Sloth played Real or No Real after explaining that a breakdown had prevented him reaching Big Weekend. He spent most of Saturday being recovered and later found somebody urinating in his VIP booth at a Doncaster appearance.
The game revealed that Paul McCartney once asked an early girlfriend’s mother to comb his leg hair before gigs. A claim that Gary Neville would join James Bay’s band was false, although Neville had appeared with him at a charity event. Charlie finished on ten points, behind Scott’s 20.
