Delilah receives her own nudie pen
Listener Johnny opened the programme by revealing that he owned two Blue Peter badges, one earned for asking a question on the show and another for sending in a simple chicken recipe. Scott compared collections of children’s television memorabilia with him and recalled making a football pitch from guacamole and carrots on Blue Peter. Johnny also owned Scott’s autograph from 2005, while Scott remembered earning his own badge by selling CDs with EastEnders actor James Alexandrou at a bring-and-buy sale.
Scott returned from a weekend DJing in Zante, where he had seen holidaymakers wearing vests that awarded ten Danny Howard points for every kiss. Beccy had unexpectedly stopped at a sheepdog trial, while Chris had DJed at his cousin’s wedding in an oversized lottery suit. Scott had borrowed Chris’s proper suit and then misplaced its jacket, although he promised to search his chaotic house before accepting that it might have disappeared in a bag of clothes intended for charity.
Delilah visited after her appearance at Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend and spoke about winning over a demanding London crowd before watching Jay-Z and Kanye West from among the audience. She was preparing to release her debut album From the Roots Up, a record she said had taken about ten years to make, followed by an October tour beginning in Leicester and ending in Bristol. Despite the album’s completion, she was already feeling the urge to return to the studio and begin writing again.
Chris presented Delilah with a nudie pen whose figure looked remarkably like her. She had never encountered one before and became absorbed in making the model’s clothes disappear, declaring it the most excitement she had experienced in a long time. Delilah offered to send a thank-you tweet and joked that she might manufacture her own branded versions, before explaining that the album contained more energetic music than her moody singles suggested.
Scott was using an ancient emergency mobile after losing his smartphone in a Greek taxi and enjoyed its long battery life despite struggling to type messages. Greg James then described appearing as the tea-time guest on Test Match Special, where Jonathan Agnew had discussed Innuendo Bingo and said he would consider playing it. In Oh, What’s Occurring?, Scott counted Westwood telling a Mallorca crowd to “make some noise” 23 times during one set.
