Unlucky Gary meets Beyoncé and Chris faces Truth or Dare
Scott arrived still thrilled by Beyoncé’s London show, calling it one of the best nights he had experienced. The guest list had been extraordinary, with Adele, Jessie J, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jay-Z among the people he spotted, but Scott’s real story was what happened after he took his friend Unlucky Gary to the after-show party.
Gary found himself sitting close to Beyoncé and Jay-Z and tried desperately to behave normally. It went badly: a dancer caught him in the face, Jay-Z burst out laughing, and Gary became hot, flustered and painfully aware that his attempt at looking cool had failed in front of one of his musical heroes.

Later, Truth or Dare came to Chris. The show had lined up people with stories about him, and he had to choose whether to hear the truth broadcast nationally or take one of the dares instead. Scott made the stakes sound much larger than they were, which was exactly what made Chris’s reluctance enjoyable.
The annual Wimbledon men’s semi-final joke was also confirmed for the coming Friday, pleasing a listener who was organising their plans around it. The programme balanced Scott’s genuine awe at the Beyoncé night with the affectionate demolition of Gary’s behaviour and the threat of Chris’s next embarrassing feature.
