Scott and Beccy explored how easily a rumour can start once somebody says it with enough confidence. The feature invited listeners to enjoy deliberately unlikely claims rather than treat any of them as fact, and the programme leaned into the escalating nonsense.
The show also kept its wider January storylines moving. Chris was still around as Scott’s under-employed friend, the team were collecting the oddest contributions from listeners, and the atmosphere remained more like friends prolonging a conversation than a tightly scripted radio item.
That looseness suited the subject. The joke was not that a rumour might be true, but that the right tone of voice could make almost anything sound as though it ought to be passed on.
