10 July 2008: Rihanna, Dave Spoon’s Curry Challenge, and Living with the Cheeky Girls

Scott calls Comedy Dave while on holiday to chat with him, Rihanna drops by to answer increasingly personal questions about her normal life, and Dave Spoon attempts to eat spoonfuls of the world’s hottest curry—all in the same episode.

On a show where Scott is away but still broadcasting, the team tackle several features. First comes “Oh! What’s Occurring?”, the ongoing quiz where Chappers and Beccy compete with Scott. This week’s edition includes Dave Spoon, a DJ from BBC Introducing, attempting to eat spoonfuls of the world’s hottest curry—a dish so dangerous that participants had to sign a disclaimer. Dave manages two spoonfuls before giving up, earning the quiz show a tied point. There’s also a piece about Rihanna being interviewed at an airport—though the call drops after just 19 seconds, before Scott even gets a proper question in—and a segment where they play a recording of Comedy Dave talking to what he thinks is another person but is actually a pre-recorded clip of himself.

The team spend considerable time on “Living with the Cheeky Girls,” a reality show on Living that aired the night before. Scott and the crew find it “unintentionally amazing” because almost nothing happens: the girls sunbathe, take photos of themselves, and chat about relationships (one with Liberal Democrat MP Mark Llywellyn). The show becomes a running joke about how little content there actually is.

Later, Rihanna calls in for a feature where the team ask her personal questions to determine if she’s a “loser” or just normal like everyone else. Topics include karaoke (she sings “Sweet Child of Mine”), abdominal exercise equipment from shopping channels, the walk of shame, and stealing toilet paper from public restrooms. She denies most of the embarrassing scenarios, though she admits her friend did the walk of shame and that she’s had drinks spilled on her at parties.
