A Big Weekend birth enters Scott’s Radio 1 film
Scott was in for Grimmy on Breakfast and continued his campaign to make a film from listeners’ Big Weekend footage. He wanted people to record whatever they were doing on 14 and 15 May, rather than simply attempting a conventional festival montage, and one caller offered a particularly memorable possibility: she was expecting her first baby just days later.
Alice explained that she might be having a home water birth that weekend and wondered whether she could be part of the film. Scott instantly treated the timing as a production opportunity, while also stressing that nobody should do anything unsafe or illegal just to create footage. The conversation moved between practical questions about the pool and the imagined moment her husband might faint while holding the camera.
The request for contributions became broader as the programme heard from a family planning a trip to a model village. Scott initially doubted it was dramatic enough for a film, but Beccy saw the potential in a toddler towering over miniature streets.
