The show opens with Santa phoning Davis, a child who’s been misbehaving at school, most notably by spitting out of a bus window at passing cars. Despite initially denying the accusation, Davis eventually admits his friends may have been involved. Santa secures a promise of better behaviour in exchange for the bike and carbon goods Davis has requested for Christmas.
The team then tackles the perpetual Christmas joke: a man visits his doctor with a mince pie up his backside, and the doctor’s response is to “get some cream for that.” The joke’s punchline becomes a running source of confusion and debate among callers throughout the segment.
Scott introduces “Play Your Christmas Cards Correctly,” hosted by Danny Howard, where contestant Natalie from London plays a card-prediction game for five tickets to the Radio 1 Christmas party. Despite working as a fashion agent, she confidently claims she can source four models to accompany her. Remarkably, Natalie wins all five tickets after an improbable streak, correctly predicting higher and lower on a series of cards that include multiple aces and tens.
The show then revisits some of 2006’s best bits. Callers request Buckfast Boy, who’s voted among the top three requested replays of the year. Scott also plays a compilation of the year’s most notorious recurring bit: the angry pizza man. Over a series of calls, the unnamed pizzeria employee becomes increasingly hostile to Scott’s various requests and indecisiveness, delivering bleeped profanities and refusing to take messages, deliver liver and pineapple pizza, or engage with any of Scott’s playful nonsense. The pizza man’s pure exasperation and rudeness made him an unlikely fan favourite throughout 2006.
