Morning Banter
Scott didn’t manage to fix the national lottery last night, and he didn’t want any complaints if listener’s numbers didn’t come up last night. He was very excited though, and according to Chappers that excitable audience seemed very up for it. Scott says the studio is the size of a cupboard, filled with quite a few people including Drawmaster Louise. Scott wasn’t too sure as to what she actually does though. Just before the draw, Scott had to talk about the electric proms – which included a rubbishly rehearsed joke, with Alan the voiceover guy. But callers didn’t think Scott really released the balls. Ricky called in to say the button was a fake, as the person in charge presses a button at the same time. What is that supposed to mean? Will they be saying when someone turns on the Christmas Lights, they’re fake too?
Yesterday you’ll probably have heard the stories of Ben, his girlfriend and her six year old son, who’s a bit of a psycho. Tonight he’s going round to hers. And it’s likely the kid will be there too. What’ll happen, will he leave alive, and is the kid really doing a Halloween version of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town? Find out tomorrow if the date goes well.
Other random events in today’s show included Scott’s concern for the banning of novelty socks at some hospitals, Georgina pausing at the wrong moment in a bulletin about moaning women causing Chappers to fluff up the sport and Radio 1 has added some new listeners. Radio 1 now reaches out to 6.81 million listeners a week, despite the fact this week they’ve got the skeleton staff on.

Celebrity Scissorhands
In the world of Celebrity Scissorhands, Scott’s started working on a ‘rocket’ haircut. This is where you have to cut hair at 45 degrees, presumably an angle and not a temperature. Michelle from The Apprentice seems to be very good at it all and Scott suspects she’s had experience in it all. Rowetta fell asleep in one of the sinks yesterday for an hour and Ortis Deeley and Richard Fairbrass haven’t turned up for training yet. Scott wanted to make it clear that it’s not just him who’s annoyed with that.
Laura’s Diary — Episode 9
It’s the second to last episode of Laura’s Diary. Ever. Today’s diary comes from 9th September 1998. Ralph gave Laura a croggy back from town (a sort of bike ride) and she decided Callum needed to know what was going on between Charlotte and Ben. She said it’s only fair he knows about this as it’s his girlfriend. She made it sound worse than he actually had, as she said Charlotte had been flirting when he hadn’t really. Laura said she has always said she’d never trust a girl with her eyes to close together. Laura told Callum she’d appreciate it if Ben and herself could have some space together to sort things out, so now she can work on trying to keep Ben. Melanie C, who was appearing on GMTV this morning (not in the diary obviously, people never watched it then either), still hasn’t replied to Laura’s letter.

But what happens next? Will Mel C reply? Will she try to get her to join the Spice Girls? Will Ben stick around? It’s begun once upon a time, but will it end happily ever after? The final Laura’s Diary airs tomorrow morning on Radio 1.
When I fell in love with uranus…
Now yesterday Hayley called in, who was in the queue to see McFly appear at a shopping centre in Birmingham. Scott called Harry and put Hayley on the phone to convince him Chappers had given out his number on Radio 1 and that he should go to Birmingham early. Chappers got a phone call yesterday, and found out Harry had fell for it. He said he had found it odd out of eight million people listenng, Harry from McFly only got one call. Chappers wants a new feature where they give out the number of celebrities and see who gets more phone calls.
The Ring
Beings over half the target audience are married, this is quite a topical discussion. In the news today Hugh Jackman has lost three wedding rings recently. Scott was out with a married man recently, and the guy had taken his wedding ring off. I’m guessing this was a visit to GAY. For the record, the guy wasn’t the one that doesn’t speak, but whoever it is his wife is called Claire. Scott wants to know if it’s alright to take your wedding ring off in some cases, like when you’re going to the gym, or in some cases, sticking your hand up the bottom of a cow.

Scott got a text from a guy who says he keeps his glove on to cover up the fact he has a wedding ring on. This caused Laura to butt in to talk about a leather glove they found in the bottom draw at Scott’s flat. Scott isn’t sure how it got there, but he thinks it was one of a pair that he must have lost. Scott claims he’d got rid of it shortly after Laura and his flatmate found out about it.Some of the words that came in to the text service during this link included ‘gimp’, ‘fist’ and ‘penetration’. Eh, dirty boy?
Enjoyable show today… with some good banter. Tomorrow it’s only bley Friday and it’s the final show of the mornings, so we can then all go back to bed until Monday afternoon. Hurrah!
