The Star Phone was one of the big features on The Scott Mills Show in 2005. It first turns up in our Show Diary on 11 July 2005 and kept ringing until late November.
How does the Star Phone work?
Scott gives a celebrity the Radio 1 Star Phone. They agree to answer it whenever Scott calls, and they must pass it on to the next celebrity they meet. Think of it as a mobile-phone version of pass the parcel.
Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey was the first to be given the Star Phone. She answered it for a little while – including from the hot tub – but then stopped answering.
Girls Aloud and Jenny Frost
Girls Aloud were given another phone. One of them answered it in the shower before passing it on to Jenny Frost. She passed it to someone who wasn’t very good at answering, and it ended there.
Charlotte Church and Heidi from the Sugababes
In September Charlotte Church was given a new Star Phone. She answered it in Tesco and at her nan’s, before handing it to Heidi from the Sugababes, who kept hold of it until the Mills holiday.
