Chris Moyles this morning gave out "Davina McCalls number" – 0775498750. This of course, is Flirt Divert. A number of messages were left this morning – fans, and some laughing at the fact they thought it was Davina McCall's mobile number. Look who's the fool now…
Random Acts of Kindness
Today was the long awaited return of Random Acts of Kindness. Dave was on the line talking about Helen and he wanted her to give her something to smile about for a few minutes. She's been ill, her mum had recently died, and she's had to look after her younger brother Thomas of six who she has to mother and look after whilst trying to cope with her loss. Her favourite band, coincidentally, was James from Maroon 5 who was lined up for today's show. He gave her a call and naturally she was shocked to have a phone call off him but very excited to get to speak to him. It was the actual James, not the impersonator. The call ended with "I wouldn't kick you out of bed…" We'll leave it there methinks.
Maroon 5
James stayed on the line to talk to Scott about Live8. As part of many guests lined up to talk to Radio 1 DJs ahead of Saturday's event. He didn't really have too much of a clue about who was playing at his venue. He was talking about egos, nerves and various other bits and bobs. Nothing too exciting. The Brown Noise
Chappers continues his lovely tasteful conversations today with a discussion of a certain frequency of noise which makes you "poo your pants". A mate of Chappers said he'd heard it on Brainiac on Sky One. It appears to be true and random information from the internet seems to back this up. Although random callers' explanation of the idea wasn't quite so scientific including terms such as the "bum hole". Apparently he has an MP3 of the brown noise so Scott set-up a poll to see whether listeners would be up for testing the brown noise. Yup, this is public service broadcasting. No doubt a few constipated listeners were up for it.
Scott's Sport Quiz
A pair of tickets for the cricket game at Lords. Chappers had two tickets to give away. So over to Scott for the question: "How many runs did India score to beat Pakistan in the highest scoring one-day international ever in March last year". Methinks someone tipped him off, and the finger was being pointed towards Laura. After a mixed reaction from the rest of the team this left newsreader George hoping no one had forgotten the weather. The answer was 349 by the way. The texts were apparently a mix of cricket results and brown noise.
Anything in the world but Mi Chico Latino by Geri Halliwell, because that's rubbiiisshhh. One caller today suggested that the noise should be tried out on Chappers first. Another wanted Zoe from a few years ago, although according to Scott that's not the brown noise. Another caller was put through by Chappers today, again sunbathing requesting that rubbish song from Eamon. Another caller from Norwich working at the hospital was discussing women in Norwich, and how all the fine ones have "come out of the woodwork" today and usually they aren't good looking. Being from Norfolk I'd like to make it clear, not the whole of Norfolk is like that! Once again the Most Wanted was 2Pac, Ghetto Gospel.
The Brown Noise Experiment
Chappers and Laura ended up with headphones on, awaiting the 'brown noise' on MP3. Chappers was very nervous, he hadn't been the toilet today. It was buzzing through their headphones. According to Laura it was making her "fart" and Chappers apparently needed the bog after that. Hopefully no one flicked over to Radio 2 during those links.
After that Scott had Jon Tickle on the show. He's from Norwich and the presenter off of Brainiac and Big Brother. He gave some scientific reasoning. Apparently headphones aren't any good and a subwoofer should be used or some large speaker. Jon suggested it should be played over the air. Tomorrow at 4.20 you can hear 'The Brown Noise Experiment'. Will it work? Find out tomorrow… Our message board members are up for it. Newsreader George is up for it, and she said the guy at reception can read the news at 4.30.
Quite an amusing show today, quite a bit of involvement from Chappers, Laura and even George. The Maroon 5 interview wasn’t too interesting, but I suppose that’s necessary for plugging Live8. I'll be back tomorrow with the results of the Brown Noise experiment. Enjoy your day!
