  1. Either this is James or you need to start Unofficial Cusack 🤣
  2. Also Katie seemed really upset by Jordan's departure, it helps keep her on side. She is an important asset.

    Sian Welby

She's just announced she's pregnant so I guess it might mean just Chris and Jordan on the breakfast show in the future?
  4. Perhaps Aled will redeem himself yet. Greg and Matt and Mollie are two of the strongest presenters at the station so it makes sense to renew one contract and bring the other two to weekdays.

    Bored!

Is it me or does the new male voiceover sound really bored when he's saying Radio 1 or a DJ name?
  6. You can sort of have your views by replying to the DJ's posts and following them, I don't suppose you have to be part of a fandom anymore.
  7. There are a lot of big names making comebacks this year. I wonder if we will see some curveballs on the line-up? Like Vampire Weekend have new material out, and still appear on the station a lot.
  8. Exactly. The guy was really thrown into it when Scott left, but there wasn't a backlash like that. I think everyone's just frustrated with the situation that Radio 1 found itself in, and it didn't help itself with the press release and tweets. I don't feel that was aimed at Dean, he just got caught up in it. Come back soon Dean!
  9. He never went through with Ask Aled which is a shame as he has been more pro-active than other Radio 1 bosses. I think the probing questions gave the PR people a heart attack, which is probably why it never happened. I am unsure of the Radio 1 PR machine after recent events. The good thing about Aled is how he rose through the ranks. He wasn't just put there without a clue about how the station works.
  10. Chappers is great. He used to call this website 'Geek World' when I was a lurker!
  11. I wonder if eventually Sara and Scott will swap a bit like Greg and Scott did. Would be great to have him back on drivetime. Maybe he could bring back Your Call 😅
  12. Reading between the lines there seemed to be a weird situationship going on between the bosses, Greg and Jordan. Not great for Greg if he's had to wait for this all to blow over before getting confirmation, but happy that he's sticking with Radio 1.
  13. everyone seems so grumpy lol i guess it was last minute illness from dean. vicky and ore have worked together in the past outside R1 if i recall.
  14. Radio 1 have form for getting rid of presenters without a goodbye, Adele seemed to just disappear!
  15. It seems a happy coincidence for Greg to be ill at the moment. Keeps him out of the way of all this mess unfolding.
  16. I reckon a lot happened during that dinner with Arielle, Katie and Vick. It must have been discussed before he went to Aled looking for assurances about his future. Evidently Aled wouldn't offer him those assurances which is why it seems so sudden. It seems a sad mess how it's ended.
  17. Let's assume it happens. Do you think they will be as popular as Roman Kemp has been?
  18. Is there a way to listen to Capital without the adverts like GHR?
  19. BBC own goal. It's a bit of a mess, and it'll get some people's backs up bringing in Jamie. You have to question their PR machine.
  20. Ken Bruce was given longer to say goodbye than Jordan North. Very strange things happening at Radio 1 - DJs sounding upset, one wonders if Greg is even off with Covid! Radio Today suggests he'll have another 'high profile' programme in the future. Can't understand why drive isn't given to Katie, I thought Vick would be the first off!
  21. A Radiocentre spokesperson said: “Despite the polished BBC press release, when one peels back the veneer, the BBC are, yet again, attempting to compete directly with commercial radio stations, interfering with the market and failing to provide distinct public value. UK audiences are very well catered for, with more choice than ever, especially for music spin-off stations. “Senior leaders at the BBC — Tim Davie, Charlotte Moore, Jonathan Wall and Lorna Clarke — don’t seem to acknowledge that this is not what the BBC, with its taxpayer funding, are supposed to be doing. They are required to provide services that are truly additional, distinct and incremental to what is already provided by commercial operators, not duplicate it. “We would like to know where the money is coming from to fund these new services. The BBC often say that they need more funding to sustain current services and that they have already cut costs to the bone — including recently cutting back news and local radio funding. What are the BBC cutting to fund these new, unnecessary services? “Ofcom should reject these proposed market interventions that would just offer duplicate services and not deliver against the BBC’s obligations, at the same time as harming commercial innovation.” Read: https://the-media-leader.com/bbc-digital-music-expansion-plans-face-pushback-from-commercial-radio/
  22. Seems like he must be sticking around.
  23. Who will on the bill? Dua Lipa? Olivia Rodrigo?
  24. Looks like Jan Slam was very scaled back this year. It used to be every day in January. It didn't start until the 8th and was only on weekdays.
