I kind of feel that Aled with daytime has been riding on safe pragmatic decisions felt Ben Cooper least had an idea where station going and where he wanted to get it and had a clear direction. Aled seems unclear providing more safe mainstream content but its tad bit bland in some areas

Yes to be fair 1 Xtra is seeming to be managed ok at the movement think post pandemic why they can get events and guests in their probably wider reach may improved. Glad you agree with how sketchy the nights are found when they axed Nemone’s show on 6 Music there was tiny bit of that over there. But yes it just needs to be in sync and not really providing something that suits the audience at that time of day feel with Power down being 1 hour there could be the case that quite abit becomes pre recorded but recently when these announcements happening I think what about the overnight times. Also do feel since the show length has got shorter there is less specialist music on the station it seemed used to be bout 10 hours overnight needs to re address the balance as some of the night time mixes and some radio 1 playlists for sounds could be centred more around new music though I think that Best New Pop could be positioned in the Saturday slot of early breakfast or another weekend slot to commit to actually delivering more new pop think if I was radio 1 controller as made clear would embed Life hacks in a weekday magazine topical show but think that Sunday afternoon slot could go to best new pop.

Think Jack Saunders honestly would work as cover sometimes on entertainment and the odd bit hear and there like Stephens did and like he did have the weekend afternoons before Levine. Though both Stephens and Lowe covered breakfast they were suited to specialist music and feel like Jack Saunders his passion for broadcasting new music and new talent would be wasted in an entertainment show like wouldn’t moved Lowe to entertainment. Felt should’ve been North or Snoochie Shy not a fan on the power down playlist for an hour Monday to Wednesday seems like a loss in overnight quality is the after hours dance shows going to be on from 11pm-1pm that poses question what broadcasts between 1-4pm still think they should scrap the dance stream. Feel like the music flagship and mid mornings will have some format changes. what will go where SoundSystems airs with Jeremiah Asiamah or is it 2 per week. Presume there’s going to be announcement about future soul to me that should’ve gone Sunday evenings with either Rock Show moving to a day in week or Introducing. but does anyone think radio 1 in next few years could scrap the rock show

Not neccasilry be doing more time than what he is now and be a means of finding style sometimes it’s worth a bit of positive mix up but would be good if had an evening show that could actually be made more watchable across different live social media platforms maybe if Jordan could do a more multi media show but think it would be good as now he doesn’t really have much interms of guests and think it could potentially find a new evening audience. Because I think it’s helpful to get that edge for it. If he’s on weekends he may still get offers to go else where but with drive at the moment he’s doing a lot of television work and that may come at conflict with that time

Find drive straight would be too predictable think before Grimmy departed drive I think he would be suited to a slot where he can have more creative freedom or doing more experimental features and kind of show his range of bringing his comedy from his podcast to the radio then could end up with breakfast eventually but possibly with a team

I would’ve put Jordan north to do that but from 10-midnight kind of playing indie music and some classic indie anthems following with entertainment features a pub like atmosphere of just having sort of round table guests to comedians involved etc. Think Grim has already did an evening slot before so that would be an issue as he did 10-midnight. Do think that they could’ve pushed more chilled stuff over to an just creating this 10pm one hour thing the slots at night time have since they got rid of the old 9 hour of stuff like internet takeover artist takeover Phil Taggart and radio 1 stories has been a bit messy feel there needs to be more continuity and something that fits better as felt they ditched that radio 1 comedy Kerch thing they tried far to early, got rid of the specialist chart. Not as fan of having the pop anthems, 00s anthem, power down playlists taking up so much of the schuedules

Think she could definatley end somewhere within a year and a half I’d think who knows I’d have done as 6 Music when she leaves interesting that commercial doesn’t have really a prominent multi genre specialist music station like BBC does with 6M and Radio 1 specialist shows. I’m suprised that ther never has been a spin of of radio X more multi genre and playing new and eclectic music. interesting where she ends up as it would be very suprising if any offers hasn’t been made to get her presenting on a new station or a commercial one

Think by the sounds of it could imagine they will make it sound a bit different from the days of Fearne, Jo and Clara probably more entertainment and features than just simple playlist may end up trying to compete with Kiss in mid mornings. Can see a shake up in style of the shows tho wouldve switched Rock Show to Thursdays after Jack and future Soul to sunday evenings and made the power down after midnight. Can imagine more about future soul announced in coming time interms of presenter think I will look forward to that. Possibly the residency or essential mix could’ve replaced Diplo but think sound system makes sense as part of the R1 Xtra take over

As Annie Macmanus leaves Radio 1, do you think she’s moving to another station? 6 Music reshuffle? Commercial ? Interested to know.

I think I’d end up subscribed and listening to future soul seems to be doing good at stretching the specialist music again it’s going to be interesting to see if there’s going to be more shoes to fill the over night future soul seems that be something presented by Jamz Supernova or new presenter maybe. Think the Residency will work moved there interesting to see how the indie show got moved continually earlier but think that earlier will work think they could’ve moved dance introduce it to another slot in the schedule and gave Jack maybe three hours on a Thursday. Will be healthy competition with Radio X could Annie Be announced for Six Music

Agreed felt they could’ve extended future sounds or future artists or add another show that isnt so much chilled themed before midnight

I think it’s going to be interesting as for most of the shows history it’s been presented by a solo presenter maybe there could more format changes with that but could Charlie add an odd mix to the show possibly

Who ever predicted Annie Macs departure and Clara taking over the evening show plaudits to you not sure about Power down ten to eleven wouldve maybe occupied that at midnight. It’s going to be interesting to hear what Clara brings to the show as think she may add few features would be interesting to see RMC presenting the live lounge expect to make the mid mornings with a few more features interesting moves none of the less

Feel that on live think after the couple weekends ago the news changing the playlist to more chilled playlist across day and night does seem odd to have chosen a night that’s got the pre weekend vibes and not something that doesn’t seem to get new listeners tuning in or appeal to the listeners of those listening at that time think the selection of shows may be ok for those who don’t mind that calming music when studying find the decompression mixes and movie mixes more for sounds and seem an odd selection to put in the indie show slot feel it’s ok for Boxing Day evening or New Year’s Day but doesn’t fit the brief.

I think with Jordan time will tell still see him covering Grimmy in the future tho as could’ve been the case the day Grimmy done the brits announcement he could’ve been out doing television recording. I mean you could be right. But sometimes people who make the decisions on the schedule often don’t go on to present the show they covered occasionally if taken over in sabbatical or maternity leave and or extended leave for medical related illness then if the presenter who they were covering for announces they decided to never return to station then some occasion they become long term but what I’m saying is don’t bank on it as sometimes the speculation the major speculation that happens on this forum doesn’t always happen. But wait and see

I do feel it’s a bit odd to replace Club Charlie, Party Anthems and Indie Show for Chill based playlists and show its something that extra editions of chill shows could’ve gone out 2-4pm I do feel like they could afford doing extra chill shows in more over night those times. Find if you want chill those times on a Thursday there’s the sounds app or Radio 3 or some other stations seems odd when more weekend vibes. Think for earth days they could’ve done more special newsbeat programming around it or done more of a worldly theme to it playing music from different nations new music that fits the station some KPop or Latin pop and Afrobeats and an indie show that featured indie music from across the globe or done a special new artists championing music from around the world

I mean it’s yet to know yet what that programming means unless they going to have certain podcasts and around it. Know about earth day but don’t know how a chill day would fit in with an earth day

Still don’t know that Jordan may end up on drive just feel sometimes it’s like once the cover never presenter like some probably felt Huw Stephens would’ve presented Zane Lowes show when he left and guess times when probably so many people felt that Scott could’ve ended on breakfast and Dev could’ve been thought of doing drive couple years ago. Again it was Zoe Ball for Radio 2 breakfast not Sara Coz. So think could be always the brides made never the bride interesting to see whether at one point he could go commercial but that maybe few years away but see him like Vick Hope doing more television work he’s entertaining to watch on television food on game of talents on the weekend. Find maybe with Vick Hopes poach at time it might suit her maybe because she’s more of a leading presenter and probably does cover and possibly control the desk maybe more pay and seems more flexible to the five a day long haul breakfast as she’s able to do more television work and probably have more social life than waiting for the alarm clock. I mean there’s a possibility in the future coming year or two like to see Katie get a promotion with her as Katie is really good to listen to and comes across quite relatable and good at audience intersection and overall good presenter. Adele Roberta possibly she could like dev go commercial do something like Heart FM, Hits Radio or Hits Pride aswell or something like Magic (oddly) could see her doing some freelance and the odd bits cover else where could maybe do over nights on Radio 2 if OJ gets a better slot but could see her doing some television voice overs and the odd television appearance and bits. it be interesting to know whether could enter a more of a period where there’s more radio and television cross over and presenting.

I would actually embed some of it into a new topical show that could discuss culture lifestyle entertainment and news somewhere between newsbeat and life hacks so giving air time to it as it’s the case they got to do an hour of news throughout 30 mins to 6O mins and feel that would be good to find different ways of doing it as think it’s not getting its best out of that slot and would try to embed with one daytime show elements of what here on 1 Xtra's Talk on Sunday night inspiring more live interactive conversations with mixed with music so don’t have that big 15 minutes of news but also maybe focused on live conversion but maybe some stuff could do focusing some of the newsbeat bits would be good maybe if move to do some documentary podcasts and some bulletin and daily podcssts

Wouldn’t put Gemma Bradley for lifehacks and that would be far too late for a show like that but could still work equally at that time I like Katie for a show like that as she’s more infersted in mental health and journalism and done some work around it think need people that know the show would return the artist stake over but for one artist taking over a few weeks for one hour like they do on 6M Nick Grimshaw a soldi no for future sounds he’s interested in music but isn’t as such a music specialist broadcaster that’s not where his specialities lie. It would seem too much a demotion for him or an odd move.

Think maybe in like the more conclusive or one of maybe for a week would be food to have a special late night show would get. Jordan for a year to do something like it yes for the student crowd or maybe those on the late shift maybe with getting comedians on and a bit like his podcast would be good if could have an on air pub atmosphere which early stages of the indie show on a Thursday night felt like that would be fun to get some features lisnterns could feel involved in the conversation and maybe some where could have a late night show like that that at times could go on roads bringing it to students. Think a late night entertainment would provide a food service for supporting mental health and loneliness without neccasarily talking about it. More of a feeling of a feel like a distraction of stresses of day and something that feels relaxed and a feel of company would be good could revive some of style of including later live lounge. I think before going on to permanent daytime slot would be good to hear Jordan get away with a style you can’t on daytime which could make him that creative for a daytime slot. I understand why Moyles would’ve refused that do feel that by the end of his era he started to sound less in touch with Radio 1s audience think sometimes he may have seemed more outspoken or controversial on air to what radio 1 is today.

Personally would end up moving most weekday time shows to shorter lengths with Jack Saunders doing morning music specialist after breakfast 9-11 for two hours then 11-12:30 GroupChat with Vick Hope and Katie Thistleton and some contributors and different features embedded enough to include some segments that would scrap the 15 minutes Newsbeat and launch a newsbeat podcasts but Group chat would feature different stuff like LifeHacks and Newsbeat stuff but with some of main playlist tracks with 12:30-13:00 with Anthems some good new dance anthems club anthems with some throwback bangers then usual entertainment shows in afternoon for time being

I think personally would scrap the Dance stream permanently think it’s an odd idea to create the stream and would scrap the just generic playlists of this. Think the station could equally balance with more indie alternative and ,Lee multi genre sounds
