Wow, A LOT has happened since half six! It's a welcome change. Stuff worth listening for. I almost think we could do with a little break from stuff just so we can have a little chat from Greg about what he's been up to for the last. month! But it's really, really great. I liked the quiz, there was just enough randomness to make it not boring.

Three songs after the news. Not ideal but if it's getting them out of the way so there's less for the rest of the half hour then that's okay I guess.

No mention of a team just yet - looks like Greg will be the main voice for now.

Greg's opening words were perfect! And starting with a 3.5 minute takeover. No pips though.

New show, new thread. It feels like Christmas eve! I'll be up at half-six tomorrow to listen, who's with me? Wonder who the guest is? (Also that's a great book I would highly recommend). I wonder whether they'll do what Moyles used to do and have the news at 6:26 so they can start with the pips at half past?

I'm just listening back to the Hide and Seek show from the 17th July, and I've noticed something very, very interesting... After six, when Greg hits the 10 Minute Takeover jingle, he accidentally pressed something else at the same time - and a second or so of Lost and Not Found by Chase and Status played. Then, he did the usual 10 Minute Takeover jingle, and played the 30 second timer, to reveal that the first song on the Ten Minute Takeover would be... Lost and Not Found by Chase and Status. Amazing how it was already cued up before it was even requested!

The stangnance of the chart probably goes a little way to explaining the shift in music policy towards older stuff - its either that or play the same chart songs every few hours for months on end. They definitely play more recurrents from the last five years or so per hour than they used to, as well as the random Greatest Hits songs they throw in as well.

I'm loving how much press there is about the show - yet another one has landed today! Ooh, that's a first. This could be good. It'll be a totally different dynamic, because unlike Scott, Matt, Dev or Alice, Jordan's younger than Chris.

Did anyone offline download the original before it was pulled? Re: a daily podcast, that's an interesting decision. I'm very glad the show will be much more content heavy than Grimmy's but it'll be hard to keep up with two dailies. If push comes to shove, I'll bin Greg's to listen to Scott's cause I'll hear more of Greg live.

He keeps saying "with the listeners not for the listeners" or something, which suggests it'll be a lot of callers and not much team interaction though. Probably won't be a full zoo format.

He's really doing the rounds of the press at the moment - he's on this week's RadioToday podcast where he talks about the more nerdy stuff.

The description of the first show. Bigger in what sense I wonder? Bigger team? Bigger sounding? An acknowledgement that the last few years of the breakfast show have been small and unmemorable?

A couple of years back, people reckoned that if Scott left, Chris would be inherited by someone like Matt Edmondson or Alice Levine - but now they're both answered for. Plus Chris himself is now a bit more mature so Scott's probably conscious that Chris has a mortgage to pay in deciding what he does next and when he does it!

I guess Tina wasn't as much a part of the Newsbeat team as Chris, partly because of the hours she does mean she's finished just as most of the team are starting and also because she's had a foot out of the door for the last couple of years now.
