  1. I've been anticipating a Cox-Moyles style swap with Grimmy and Greg for a while, I think perhaps at the end of this year/beginning of next year. Saying that, Ben Cooper is very unpredictable, so who knows what will happen? Maybe we really will end up with Grimmy on breakfast til 2019...
  2. Phil tweeted about it a little while ago, he doesn't seem very excited about it (understandably so). All he's said is <iframe class="twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered" id="twitter-widget-0" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="border: currentColor; border-image: none; width: 1px; height: 0px; visibility: hidden; position: absolute;" allowtransparency="true"></iframe> <iframe class="twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered" id="twitter-widget-1" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="border: currentColor; border-image: none; width: 1px; height: 0px; visibility: hidden; position: absolute;" allowtransparency="true"></iframe> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8" async=""></script>and Really don't understand why it was necessary to get rid of him for Huw, he's been at Radio 1 since 1999 anyway, he should be on his way out, not his way up. Phil's much better, and the future of Radio 1.
  3. Think it's a shame the Phil and Alice show has ended so soon, it was really good and had great features like the Lolz Lounge and the Bedroom Parties- it's been cut down in its prime. It wouldn't be as bad if Phil had carried on doing the show solo, but the fact that he's been binned off completely and demoted to 1 hour a week is terrible. I'm wondering why they didn't just give Huw the 10PM show anyway, I'm sure they trialled him at the time, then settled on Phil and Alice instead- then replaced them with him a year and a half later! Edith leaving was predictable, but its a shame the Review Show went with her. Does Dan and Phil moving mean the request show's been binned off as well? Oh well, at least they're only on for one hour once a week (but I would have put them on a Wednesday instead, in the old Matt Edmondson Show slot, because to some people Dan and Phil may be vaguely classed as "comedy"). Would've left R1 Stories on Monday and put The Surgery on a Tuesday as well. Not sure whether Dev's show being given an extra hour is good or not- he's just got off earlies and now he has to get up earlier again (although I guess it's still later than he used to be on), plus he has an extra hour to fill, which I think he might struggle with. Looking on the bright side of all of this, when I heard Chris Smith say "Radio 1 has announced schedule changes", my heart skipped a beat. It was such a relief to know that Scott's still on, I was worried for a second!
  4. Are you talking about the Pure Jingles sweepers or the "This is- Gemma Cairney- BBC Radio 1" things? I quickly listened back to her show from yesterday and I couldn't hear any sweepers in the expected places (TOH/half hour), but I did hear some name ID's that I don't think I've heard before. EDIT: Never mind, I get you.
  5. Thinking about it, there may not be a 7PM Grellie handover- does anybody know if she'll be going out live, or if it will be a pre-rec? My common sense is suggesting it will be pre-recorded, unless Ellie happens to know how to drive the desk. Imagine "It's Ellie Goulding here, who's on board?"
  6. Ooh, looking forward to the 7PM Greg-Ellie handover!
  7. Yeah, I like that too, but it's a shame he got rid of that funky intro bed he used on early breakfast ( ), that was great. Adele Roberts used it when she sat in last week. He could still use that ramp at other points in the show, but oh well, at least he's kept some stuff from the old show. Holly and David are also still on the I'm Here All Week jingles, formerly of Dev, that Gemma Cairney has nicked on early breakfast.
  8. I also like that, but it's a shame he didn't keep the funky intro bed he used on Early Breakfast ( ), it was really cool. He could've used that ramp at other points in the show instead, but oh well, at least he's keeping some stuff from the old show. I remember Dev used to have some really good cheesy beds for his show, but now he always uses the boring R1 Generic Beds. I don't know how long ago he stopped using them, definitely whilst he was still on Early Breakfast, but it's a shame, because it gave his show a distinctive sound. I wish DJ's would be more interesting with bed choices, the only ones who use different ones to the generic beds are Grimmy and *shudders* Gemma Cairney. And I never thought I'd be praising Gemma Cairney.
  9. You've used the old voice overs on those- If you don't have the current guy going "BBC-Radio 1", I've got it here if you want it. Man Only- R1.mp3
  10. It's funny this thread is going on at the moment- I'm not 100% sure, but I think there might be a new female voice over on the way. Have a listen to this, especially the "one" at the end of the ID. It doesn't sound like the normal female VO, so could she be replaced soon? I've heard her doing the "one" on one of the top of the hour song-ramps (those songs with the extended intro they play as the third song each hour) as well.If she is about to be replaced, it could be why they don't play as many sweepers at the moment (there are virtually none with One Big Weekend live tracks at the top of every hour). 11. Knowing the Daily Fail, Sara's words have probably been taken completely out of context- I'm sure the thing about Pitbull music making "her soul weep" was a throwaway remark in a typical Sara Cox over dramatic style. Plus, it's a bit rich to say "she then turned on Radio 1", the Mail doesn't give any further quotes to support this, apart from the "Pitbull on Radio 1" remark- it's not quite turning on Radio 1 is it? She just doesn't like some of the music Radio 1 plays, just like every other current DJ and every listener. Typical Daily Mail, blowing things completely out of proportion to try and spoil someone's reputation. Written by idiots, believed by idiots.
  12. Mike's the name of the current one, Mike Wooller.
  13. Not sure about 1Xtra. I'm not too bothered about the thread going off topic either- off topic ramblings are what keeps forums alive!
  14. The original voice over was Laya Lewis (Skins actress 2011), I remember Matt Fincham talking about it on air. She was much better than the current female voice over, she constantly sounds surprised and it annoys me.
  15. I think it must be. I just stalked Dan Mumford on LinkedIn, it says he left Radio 1 in December last year to start his own music imaging company http://www.danielmumfordmusic.com/ . He's got some Radio 1 stuff on there, but it's got voices all over it. Turns out he's done some of Radio 1's recent beds, including the new 10 Minute Takeover stuff.
  16. I've got a copy of the Showquizness theme. It's just a rip off the radio, but it's almost completely clean, apart from a small amount of background noise at the beginning. Haven't got the light mix unfortunately. I have a feeling that Grimmy said on the first show that Judge Jules or someone made it for them, if that helps. Showquizness Theme.mp3
  17. Radio 1 has commissioned some new Live Lounge imaging (but still NO NEWS JINGLES AFTER THREE YEARS!!!). http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/commissioning/site/Radio1LiveLounge.pdf A quote that stands out is "Please avoid EDM, dubstep, anything which screams “we’re trying really hard with this music to be excitingâ€." Oh well, could be good.
  18. Are you talking about the bit of music he uses at the end of the Waking Up Song? That is a piece called Girl from Ipenama I believe, but I don't know the exact recording they use.
  19. YESSS to the Whooo game- I've heard that, it's just the last 9 months or so I've got back into the podcasts.
  20. Sorry to bump this up, because I believe it is not good forum etiquette, but does anybody know which show this was/ around what time last year whooing started? It's interesting to hear how it's evolved since I first heard it in about October.
  21. Yesssss Dev in for Greg again! I hope Chris Smiths on.
  22. She keeps herself very quiet online doesn't she? I was trying to stalk her, but her Twitter is private and she has no website with demos or anything like most voice artists do. How did she land a Radio 1 gig with virtually no online presence? I was under the impression Radio 1 thought online content was the future... ;-)
  23. I'm getting really paranoid now- I was listening to Monday's podcast when they did the RoNR fact about the prime minister who does a radio show in his country. Scott and Greg were joking about David Cameron getting a show on Radio 1, and they were wondering which slot he'd get, when Scott said "they'd probably give him my show". Are we looking in to this too much?
  24. I think the 2007 ones were too slow, it felt like they're just plodding along. By 2009, they were much faster, and the intro went straight in. Agree that Holly and David are better voiceovers than scouse girl and Mike (https://soundcloud.com/mikewooller).
  25. The 2007 ones weren't so good, they lacked punch, but when they were remixed for 2009, they were great- I think my favourite news package in recent years. I liked the ones they used for most of 2004 as well, and the 2005/2006 were very good, but 2009's got to be the best for me. The current R1 voiceovers never did podcast intros, I don't know why. It's Holly and David on The Scott Mills Daily, as well as The Matt Edmondson Show. They used the old old voiceovers (Jody and someone, c.2007) on the podcasts for a while during the Holly and David era as well.
