  1. Nothing new, rumours been around for years. It's stupid really, just because a grown man appears to be single and doesn't want to talk about his private life then he's gay. Pathetic. Even if he was, it wouldn't matter.
  2. I was listening to this last night and it Tim Davie was blantenly avoiding answering the question put to him. It's a shame but its obvious Moyles won't be on Radio 1 Breakfast this time next year

    The Apprentice!!

Melissa cracks me up! So glad she went, she was awful. And quite an unpleasant person too, a bit like a little 'gangsta yoot, init blud'. "Save your skin and get out my face init.." Hmmm.. Gracious loser?
  4. Three stars? How flattering. Is Holly only an average friend?
  5. Plasters?! Where were you when I needed you Viv?! I cut my finger pretty badly on a chipped mug when I decided to be helpful and do my fair share of the washing up. None of the 8 people that live here had a plaster, and the site office with the first aid kit won't be open again til 4 :\ And why do u carry an envelope with a stamp around with you? Incase you get the sudden urge to write and post a letter while on the move?
  6. There's certainly nothing wrong with studying photography. I'd imagine there's more to it than just learning how to take pictures of a professional quality, but understanding the history and the technology of the equipment, and studying the works of renowned photographers. And about that link of 'Top 10 Useless Degrees', David Beckham Studies, or Football Culture sounds really interesting. If I remember correctly it's not actually a degree itself but a module within a course. But I'd imagine there's more to it than it may seem on the surface - studying the cultural, sociological, political, economical etc aspects of the world's favourite sport. Philosophy - Most certainly not a useless degree! Understanding the world we live in today from the perspectives of a diverse list of distinguished and legendary figures such as Karl Marx, Plato, Emile Durkheim, Noam Chomsky, John Stuart Mill, Adam Smith, Max Weber, Aristotle etc. If you think they're useless, then surely English, or any other language for that matter, would be more useless (but of course they're not). Art History? Useless? Is this a joke? Not something that interests me personally, but certainly not useless. History is a vast subject that engulfs pretty much everything. There are historians who specialise in art as there are those who specialise in media and communications, war and conflict, politics and society, buildings and structures, royalty and aristocracy, transport and settlements. I could go on and on. Understanding the past is incredibly important when it comes to understanding the present and preparing for the future. Historians are hugely valuable. As I said in my earlier post, anyone who simply thinks of university as a place where people go to get a well-paid job afterwards quite frankly have no understanding of what universities are about. They're research-led institutions where experts teach students who share that interest, want to engage in the studying of that particular specialist field, become more knowledgable in that field and become experts themselves while conducting their own research and feeding off the research that has been conducted by researchers before them. Whether that's as specialist as child psychology, political ideology, golf studies or football culture; the current experts of those subjects have every right to share that knowledge with their students who share that interest and want to better their knowledge and understanding. It is important we support those who are eager to learn and research and be the next experts and teachers of tomorrow - even if they don't share the same interests as us.
  7. Westwood 1Xtra similcast on Radio 1 covering for Scott like last Christmas please!
  8. Alan, how do you define a pointless degree? A subject you don't necessarily approve of or particularly like or respect yourself doesn't mean it's pointless. People go to university not just with the view of getting a particular higher-than-average paid job at the end of it, but to gain a deeper and more thorough understanding of whatever it is they choose to study; or with the view of producing their own piece of research in whatever specialist field, etc. But not with the ambition to get themselves into debt, or burden the country and it's taxpayers with their debt, or to leave jobless and with a 'pointless' degree. For those who want a 100% guarantee of a job at the end of their degree (assuming the ConDems don't get too carried away) then a Medicine degree or a degree in Dentistry is the aim, but as I said earlier there are more reasons than just job prospects when it comes to making these kind of decisions.
  9. Another happy belated birthday message for you Tyler! I must say, you share "the day you emerged from your mothers vagina" with a very impressive set of people.
  10. I guess clutter makes your own personal environment a more personal and homely, but every now and again our rooms/homes need a thorough clean where all the rubbish collected over the last few months (as hard as it may be) need to be thrown away, and occasionally spruce it all up with a paint job (from dark blue to white with light blue detail). Maybe even move the TV to the other corner of the room and slide the sofa a few feet over. Takes time and effort but we'll love the end result and sometime down the line we'll go through the whole process again and make the next set of changes :-) The new-look UM is a bit like a swanky showroom rather than a homely environment, but thats not necessarily a bad thing.
  11. I really like it, and it's continuing to grow on me. Especially since the banner went up. The banner is really nice, and the pages overall are a lot sleeker, cleaner, modern-looking and spacious. As wonderful as the previous look was, it was quite hard and harsh in comparison to how it is now. Thumbs up from Kyle.
  12. Haha! So true. For those Facebook users, just remember how much people were going on about how they hated those changes. Whether you now love it or still hate it (personally I love it), we all got use to it. So we'll get use to this after a while
  13. A Willy?! That's Prince William Arthur Philip Louis of Wales to you.
  14. To be honest I would have thought that if Nick Grimshaw was to be moved to daytimes or if Jo Whiley were to leave Edith would be one of the frontrunners to get those slots. I think she still has a future at Radio 1. But whatever she chooses to do, I wish her the very best for her future.
  15. That's a shame really. I quite like Edith. I never heard her on weekday daytimes but her weekend breakfast show is quite good and shes good when she covers for Nick Grimshaw. I'll miss her. I can't quite see Dev returning to that slot so I guess the weekend breakfast slot is Matt Edmondson's now then. Yippee..
  16. Well it's obviously about that documentary with Piers Morgan Why else..?
  17. Probably not. There'd be news about the promotion and updates on listening figures, commentaries from 'journalists' and critics comparing him to Moyles and Evans, but other than that probably not. Simply for the reason Scott is a likeable and uncontroversial guy who wouldn't attract the sort of hatred from the Daily Mail and the Murdoch media in the way that Moyles does.
  18. You mean garage? I never listened to it at the time to be honest, but I did here the UK garage takeover a few months back with The Dreem Team returning to Radio 1 for one Saturday night, and I loved it! Reintroduced me to garage music too.
  19. I loved his show, one of my favourites on Radio 1 at the time. He use to regularly cover for Scott too, as did Vernon. Back in the day when both Vernon and Sara worked both Saturdays and Sundays. The Early Doors Club, The Last Dance, Mills and Spoon - those were the days!
