Arielle to cover Clara? I’d be tempted to have Adele and Jordan sharing cover for Grimmy. Matt and Mollie or RMC should cover Scott if Chris is off or Jordan with Chris and Scott and Chris covers Greg.

Matts gone round the weekend a bit 10-1 Sunday then 10-1 both days and then 1-4 then 6-10 and now 1-4 again.

It’s just time for Radio 1 to evolve - there isn’t anywhere for Dev to go really and do better than he’s done in the past and done well to stay as long as he did. Good steady hands

Scott’s the ‘original supply teacher’ and after that was Nihal and Greg

When I first listened properly Saturday nights were Trevor Nelson at 7pm then Westwood followed by Mistajam but he would often cover for Trevor with DJ Target doing 11pm. Did Mistajam also do the 7pm slot on 1xtra and Target did Fridays?

Probably to even it up a bit. Why do Radio 1 have the same people covering where as Radio 2/5 seem to have a whole range of different guest presenters

No - a bank holiday special would be quite cool though

Week day presenters are probably obliged to have Radio 1 as their main role not to swanning off doing other projects. Weekends you can get away with being off for a month/6 weeks etc but not a day time key slot. Annie seems an exception so maybe there’s a family reason for going back to Ireland. Greg, Scott and Grimmy might get to negotiate an additional 2/3 weeks a year to do Radio 2, Cricket etc but wouldn’t have thought any longer

Jk & Joel should have had a better slot imo. Adam Catterall should have got a weekend slot too but Ben Cooper seemed to have other plans.

Agree about the Friday it’s not the weekend. I think t was introduced as a mix of the likes of Dev and Matt wanting more slots but no vacancies on weekdays and also to cut down the amount of times presenters were away on cross promotion stuff on other stations/tv e.g. Friday night is music night and Greg’s been on other stations with his Chris Smith work. The 7am I reckon is to do with the increase in home working so less commuting. Adele being on for 3 hours is probably because it’ll me a quite busy music slot where as daytime will probably have more features or I hope especially with Scott and Drive (Grimmy’s time must be up soon)

Dev used to do early breakfast on 1xtra before Trevor & Gemma

I don’t think it’ll be just pop as commercial stations will whinge - schedule wise move Grimmy to 7pm either Monday-Thur or Friday. Poss put Scott back on drive or give him breakfast and let Greg have a bit of a sabbatical in the next year or so to enable Scott to leave R1 on a high. Make Friday a more normal weekday schedule at least until 1 or 4pm. Have the chart as a hour show with occasional extended specials e.g. Christmas no1, chart of the year.

I reckon Greg might take a bit of sabbatical in a year or two leaving Scott to take Breakfast for a few weeks as his swan song

Isn’t Scott off next two weeks anyway? Why can’t these presenters present from home like Absolute and Global?

Scott did cover occasionally with someone like Matt doing his show but think was mainly Dev and laterly Mistajam before Scott took over.
