  1. God I can only imagine Scott and The Hoff doing a full show. Last time he "crashed" the show it was a hilarious trainwreck. I can only imagine how three hours would be.
  2. Yeah it's there now, wasn't last night. Oh well.
  3. Did something happen during today's show? Just noticed Scott's program isn't available for "Listen Again" while all the other DJ's are for today. No biggie - just hope this isn't a trend!
  4. Agree. Seems like all he does on Scott's show is listen to the other DJ's and try to piggy back on the bits they did earlier in the day, then keep on repeating the line "I'll try and fit in (band and artist here) coming up..." and "reckon" about a lot of things. Nothing new, nothing impressive, nothing I'd want to hear on afternoon drive for more than a couple days.
  5. I agree with the comments above. First listen I hated this but with each subsquent listen it's grown on me.
  6. How do you get it to actually stream the iPhone option? It never finds the iPhone stream for me in the USA so I have to use flashlow1, which sounds just the same as what I get out of Radio DLD without having to jump through command line entry hoops.
  7. I let RadioDLD run last night and it does indeed work outside the UK. Just be patient and it will work. BBC Radio directory pages take about 2 minutes to load the first time, and it takes about 45 minutes to download a three-hour show. The progress bar won't update until the downloading process is done and then once again when the conversion process is done, but the files will indeed save properly. Just make sure whatever firewall you're using punches a hole through (see what to allow on the RadioDLD page) otherwise RadioDLD won't work at all.
  8. There's also the bit from Monday morning where Chappers, in the middle of Beccy's legal read for the Live Lounge contest, cut her off and said "don't vote for Will Young!". It definitely seems like he's coasting now.
  9. If anyone has success getting this to work outside the UK please let me know. I get to the "downloading" screen and the bar never expands.
  10. Mark, give the XM Online player a shot at work. http://xmro.xmradio.com. You should be able to listen to Scott's show through that on east coast time if the player will load for you.
  11. I've only been listening to Radio 1 for a little over a year now, but the very first Scott Mills show I heard was a Scott/Chappers duo show (Beccy was away with a big head at the time). It was their chemistry that got me listening. Well, that and the fact we're both real sarcastic and grumpy... I'll stay with Scott even with Chappers gone, but it won't quite be the same. I'll especially miss the prank call wars between Chappers and Beccy and the hilarious moments that ensued (Camp Steve from Computer Support, etc.) Chappers, you'll be sorely missed.
  12. Who knows? We'll just have to wait it out.
  13. I almost drove off the road when I heard it. SiriusXM runs Radio 1 on a 5-hour delay and it still wasn't bleeped. Reggie definitely did a great job apologizing for it.
  14. I've definitely noticed a drop in recurrents over the last few months. It used to be a guarantee that the second song in each half hour of Scott's show was a recurrent, with a rarer one at least once or twice a week. A couple of my favorites' last plays courtesy of XMFan.com: The Feeling - Sewn Request: XM 29 - BBC Radio 1 Last Played: July 28, 2009 3:04 PM ET The Rasmus - In The Shadows Request: XM 29 - BBC Radio 1 Last Played: August 02, 2009 10:40 AM ET Could it be late July to early August was a shift in strategy at Radio 1? That's about the time they cut back on the 1tro's and changed the male announcer too.
  15. I agree RealPlayer sucks but its the only stream I can get here in America on my web radio. I found another list that's updated weekly with RA links to all of Radio 1's shows in case anybody's interested. http://beebotron.org/public2/radio1.html
  16. One of the great things about Radio 1 was that it used RealPlayer to stream low-bandwidth audio. It's been great for me since I could listen to the show on my web radio and occasionally record Scott's shows to listen back to later on my mp3 player. With the BBC doing away with RealPlayer it's put a crimp in my listening. Now I'm back to the podcasts again unless I happen to catch Scott live or I'm tethered to my computer for more than 10 minutes. I'm not a happy camper - just thought I'd post it here to vent. :-)
  17. I just hope they don't take away international listening in this switchover.
  18. She did a great job filling in back in early September. I'll be looking forward to this. Viv: at least when Sara does ramble it usually winds up being at least somewhat funny. I can think of a certain new morning presenter who can go on for minutes without saying anything useful or funny at all!
  19. I heard a good portion of Fearne's show this morning for the first time and found her totally off-putting. I always used to feel like Jo was a bit smug (possibly due to the way I perceive her accent since I'm American) but at least she gave a damn about the music. Fearne is just totally into herself, and that's the end of her schtick. Reggie used to keep her in check, but now that she's broken free on her own I can't stand her. I couldn't believe it - I had to turn away, and I can honestly say I won't tune back in from 10-12:45 until she's gone, or until they bring on Reggie as her co-host.
  20. Really? I listened and her heart definitely seemed in it to me. She actually seemed more energized than she had on weekday mornings for quite a while.
  21. SiriusXM's display got stuck as well. Now they're just showing generic "BBC Radio 1" after displaying the Biffy Clyro title for most of the day.
  22. Scott made an inadvertent appearance on E!'s "The Soup" on Friday July 25th. The show makes fun of clips from various TV chat programs. David Hasselhoff appeared on the talk show "The View" (American take on Loose Women) earlier in the week, and the interview he did there featured a clip from "The Hoff When Scott Came to Stay" with David's daughters recording a song in a studio. Scott was in there grooving in the studio. So after the host of "The Soup" made fun of Scott and David nodding their heads to the song, they popped up a shot of Scott looking bug-eyed and went "so, random creepy looking guy, what did you think of their singing?" before cutting to break. It was realllllly weird to see Scott pop up on American TV.
  23. Can't wait. :-) Guess the boss will have to put up with me listening to Radio 1 at work this week. Seriously - Sara live is appointment listening for me.
  24. Got an e-mail back from Sam at the Radio 1 web team. He said they've been having issues specifically with the Scott Mills "listen again" files since they upgraded their systems, and they're working on it.
  25. June, thanks for the tip! It looks like they're splitting the show around NewsBeat now. The regular "listen again" link's only 1:05 in length, but the link on the schedule page is 1:50, taking you through the top of the 5:45 NewsBeat. Gotta listen in two parts, but at least the whole show's still around!
