  1. Oh bloody hell don't we have enough 1Xtra pish on R1 as it is?! We don't need Gemma bloody Cairney, get back over there with the other awful presenters (Mistajam and Westwood excepted)
  2. Every once in a while I'll get someone at work who makes my day. Today I experienced 1 of those people. Old woman bumps into a blind man getting off the bus and says to him "sorry, didn't see you there". I knew he was blind as he had asked for a shout when we got to his stop, so my immediate thought was that this could end badly. So anyways the man gets off followed by his companion who I assume was some sort of carer or assistant, but before she gets off she leans into my cab with a smile on her face and says "funnily enough he didn't see you either". It'll have been said a million times before today but it certainly cheered me up on an otherwise long day.
  3. Agreed, the chart show is an awful show as it is especially with that gibbering muppet presenting it. Its bad enough we have to hear the likes of Jessie J, Adele and Micki Minge-aj without also there being video to go with it all as well. That said though the chart show is so easy to miss that I don't think this new nonsense will stand much of a chance of me hearing it.
  4. Well theres a good reason to scrap 6 Music if ever there was one
  5. I don't listen to other stations, infact I detest local/commercial radio so much that I nearly kicked a friend out my car for changing the station when we were out one day. It went into the garage for its MOT one day as well and came back with the radio on XFM, I felt dirty even looking at the display. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Radio 1 is perfect but its a damn sight better than the alternatives. Used to hate it at my old work if a nightshift had been on and they had been listening to Galaxy or Forth One overnight because I couldn't exactly walk in and change the radio when others were listening to it already.
  6. I won't be buying, not because of News Internationals alledged wrongdoing, just because I don't have time for newspapers. The only one I would look at is the Metro and even at that I usually look for the more amusing stories to give me something to do on my break, nothing more. I'm not nosy, if something is important I'm sure it will come to my attention without me actually going to the time and expense of buying something which is invariably full of things I don't need to know, have no god given right to know or have no interest in whatsoever. I have nothing against News International, I think all the papers are just as bad as eachother.

    Brits 2012 !!

I'm gonna need to YouTube this Adele thing, anyone else think it would be great if her next album (assuming one is inflicted upon us) had a bit that half way through all the tracks a blur song kicks in?

They're beyond dreary and exceptionally over rated. They had a couple good songs and were given a status as hugely respectable musicians which is frankly undeserved. Put it this way, if I'm ever in a coma and they get played within eat shot it'll be game over.

Thanks, had totally forgotten about that talentless bag of air, she'll no doubt get a mention if nothing else. I think you've done rappers a bit of an injustice there actually . I would say Brown was more along the lines of that sleazy creepy musical style they call RnB. Just had a look at the nominees in the various catergories and its truly unbelievable. Its clearly been a bad year for music when you look at who is in the lists. Pro Green is the best of a bad lot in the British Male Solo Artist catergory. Not one of the British Female Solo Artist should be there. Same again with British Breakthrough Act, where the hell is Rizzle Kicks?!? British Group should be Chase and Status but again thats the best of a bad lot. If British Single doesn't go to either Example or Olly Murs/Rizzle Kicks then there is something seriously wrong. MasterCard British Album of the Year has nothing good in it. International Male Solo Artist should really be heading David Guettas way but I'm almost certain it wont. Nobody in International Female Solo Artist should be getting anything except their bus fare home. International Group is again a very poor lot. International Breakthrough Act has not one good person at all in it either. I do agree with Blur getting Outstanding Contribution to Music but I think it should have been going their way a few years earlier than it has.
  10. Well a small positive to come from that bumjockey crashing into Dad's car is that he's now got himself a nearly new car, I don't think its even 1 year old yet. When he said he'd got himself a Corsa D as a courtesy car and said he liked it I asked if he'd had a bang on the head, when Mum told me a few days later than he liked it so much they bought an identicle one I knew he must definitly have banged his head on something. He still shouldn't have had to go and buy 1 in the first place had it not been for that idiot, who he now accepts he should have called the police about but I can completely understand why he didn't make an issue out of it at the time. However for as long as he's been driving he's just had to buy what he could afford. I know he wanted a new/newish one at some point and now he's got one so thats one small consolation to take from it. He said he really really likes the car and had more or less made up his mind about it before even going to look at some. I own a Corsa as well and I think it also gives them some peace of mind that the only time things have gone wrong with my car were either wear and tear or because I broke them and its only once had to be rescued by the AA which was for a flat battery which in its defence was the original so it had clearly lasted a descent length of time.

I may be wrong, but I think it had something to do with Scott claiming she had been saying things about various different people who were at the awards for a joke. Obviously she hadn't, and wasn't too pleased at him claiming she had been. Adele and Jessie J will no doubt be the big winners this year, although I wish they would just disappear from the music scene for good. As far as the Chris Brown thing goes, I'm not a fan of his songs but I seem to be in the minority who think that whatever he does in his private live has absolutely fuck all to do with his music career and abilities as a singer. This fuss thats being made about him and Rhianna doing songs together is all out of proportion. Do I honestly care about their relationship? No. Does their relationship make any difference to them being singers? No. Should anyone else be remotely bothered other than them themselves? No
  12. Was the rant before 7.30? I didn't get up till then and didn't hear anything when I was listening to the show
  13. I have a tv in the house/flat but its not used for watching live tv. Firstly me and my flatmate never actually got round to making a decision regarding the tv license so we dont have 1, and secondly we're out a hell of a lot so it doesn't really make much sense to have it if we're not gonna use it. We've got the internet so anything we wanna watch can be done through that on the iplayer etc and connect the laptops to the tv and watch it that way so its all good. Between us we have an unbelievable amount of dvds/things on hard drive so we're probably not missing out on much anyway.
  14. Pointless story there, and I'm very confused as to what angle they were trying to take with the whole thing. Presumably the media wanted to lay into him again but on this occassion didn't have much to work with other than that he is in his late 30s. As for the Wand Erection thing, he's met the guys before and they seem to get on alright when they've been on the show before so how on earth it was uncomfortable is beyond me.....
  15. Watching it live on the webcam at the moment, its very weird seeing it all being so formal with the suits and dresses. I imagine this must have been what radio was like back in ye olden times.
  16. Well, unless you're running about in a playground.
  17. Oh no I absolutely love it, I thoroughly hate children and want to drive the bus into a wall in the mornings when I'm turned into a glorified school bus. If I had my way us adults who want nothing to do with them should be able to have adult only transport, parks, cinema, restaurants etc, leaving us able to enjoy a completely child free environment to live in
  18. Oh no no no no no, as Churchill would say. Tee-total me.
  19. I don't think I've ever been so glad to see schools off on 1 of their random holidays. Been doing very early shifts at work this week, and in all honesty I'd have been done for murder by this point had I had to deal with the delightful little darlings on their way to school.
  20. well, not that you know of anyway
  21. well they do say "thats why mums go to Iceland, and mums are family, you been raiding Iceland again?
  22. I don't really see mum and dad as much having moved out, which is understandable and inevitable, but I try and go up and see them if there is time etc. Not really seen them in a couple of weeks, so when I get a text off mum this evening asking what I'm doing this weekend I immediately get suspicious. I phone back, only to be told that last week dad's car was written off in an accident. I've spoken to him and he's fine, it was a very low speed one but the car is gonna cost too much to repair so he has to get a new one. Thats 2 accidents in a year that have happened to him if I recall correctly, both of which have been caused by the other driver either being impatient like last week, or not paying attention like the previous one. I don't get it, I'm in my mid 20s and drive for a living, dad is in his mid 50s and works in an office all day, surely it should be me who is an accident magnet, not him? I don't talk about this with anyone because it never comes up and I don't think I'd feel comfortable saying it, but I feel a bit protective over him. We're not massively close because we have very different interests and he's a reasonably quiet man, we don't ignore eachother but we don't have much to talk about other than driving and motorsport. A few years ago he was attacked on his way home from the pub, completely unprovoked. He was in a right mess afterwards and was scared to go out after dark, only in the last couple years he's been able to go back out in the evening and even then he's changed where he goes and how he gets there. I don't want to say what it was that we were told, but something the police said made us realise how close we'd been to not having him around any more and that really shocked me. So any time since then I've always been really angry or upset when I hear something bad has happened. Like I said, he's a quiet man, he's harmless and keeps himself to himself so I absolutely hate hearing when things arent going right for him and mum, its just not fair really.
  23. Apparently so yes, there was something about it in the Metro a week or so ago. It had the big logo on it and it was in the smart price colours, I don't know if it is a regular thing for them but I remember a few years ago hearing them and joking with the ex about us getting them for eachother. Unfortunately I can't remember if we actually bought them after all.
  24. So glad I managed to almost completely bypass the whole thing. Nothing was mentioned at work, and the flatmate was out (presumably with other half) yesterday when I came in from work so I didn't have any mushy soppyness to deal with. Its all a load of pish, I'm by no means anti-commercial or anti-capitalist etc, but when it comes to Valentines day it really gets on my nerves. People in relationships are pushed into buying unnecessary things and making romantic gestures. Those of us who are single are either left feeling shit because they feel all alone or that that liking they have for someone isn't mutual, or we're called miserable etc for being glad we don't have to waste time effort and money on an otherwise totally pointless event. Yes I am single, and yes last year I was feeling shit because a girl I liked didn't think I was enough, however I've always been anti-Valentines even when I was with my ex. This year there is no love interest and I am just glad I was able to more or less get through the day without having to acknowledge it. Saying that, I'll admit I had a look in Asda for their "smart price" card to send to a mate for a laugh, did anyone actually see them at all this year? I've never had the secret admirer type card but I know if I was to receive 1 I would just feel awkward. Not only for myself but also for her as I would have no idea who it was who liked me so wouldn't know how to handle the situation and she would spend the day knowing she had taken the time to do something like that for me and I was either oblivious to her interest in me, had no interest in her whatsoever, or not deemed her worthy of sending something even if I did like her as well. If I was in a relationship I would much rather do little things throughout the rest of the year for no reason other than because I wanted to, than be pushed into something just because of what date it is and be charged a hell of a lot more to do it just because of the date as well.
  25. I have a feeling that there isn't much danger of the site getting any mentions any time soon what with the arguing and petty comments made by some recently
