Is it really a massive problem him being there for a while longer? He's not heavily reliant on the music played as its drastically cut down as its a speech show. So that's not an issue, he still seems pretty popular. There's been a lot of change at Radio 2 recently, there needs to be some stability for a while.
  2. It is a bit of a bizarre one. I couldn't imagine back 20 years ago Judge Jules doing a live Radio 1 show and Dave Pearce turning up wasted saying your tunes are pish. Usually all the dance jocks teamed up back then, and told Westwood he was shite.

    RAJARs Q2 2023

Ken Bruce's Radio 2 show was too old for me, nothing against him but I never went out of my way to listen. For the first time the other day though I heard his greatest hits show for half an hour. It's just not the same for him, and the limited music and adverts stop him getting into his full flow. It won't last there imo. Vernon is sounding decent, listened to him a fair bit this week. I think he'll grow into that more and more, and this time next year the figures will show it.
  4. I'm also old enough to remember the Lisa L'anson thing, that was far bigger than this. I don't mind this really, it's a small telling off and move on. Radio 1 has been ever since I've listened, too nicey nicey at times. Now more than ever. That's why I loved when Moyles for instance back in the day basically said what he thought sometimes about a song. It was entertaining. No chance in hell every DJ loves every song on the playlist. Not everything is brilliant to everyone as its portrayed on air sometimes. Not saying slag tunes off every show, but if there's something you just don't get the appeal of it makes good radio to say what you think.
  5. Oh Jesus wept, I now recall Chappers being recorded singing that let's have sex song. They should replay that on MOTD for him for old times sake.
  6. Or the start of Barry Whites just the way you are.
  7. When you suddenly recall "Brokeback Westwood" from about 2006 in the middle of the night. https://www.unofficialmills.co.uk/audio/dailyclips/random/3-5-2006-brokeback_westwood.mp3
  8. Wasn't such a thing back then, although they didn't give a toss about much anyway. As they had Kylie voice one of their sweepers saying "Don't worry girls... they're ugly!" Nowdays I think with social media it feels that the face for radio type days are gone, you do have to look the part now too it seems.
  9. Well if they are too hot they are obviously too sick to be at work and need to rest up at home. Now back in the days of yore, Mark and Lard were quite the lookers as demonstrated here. These days, in all seriousness. I wouldn't kick Sarah Story out of bed for a month, I doubt she feels likewise about me mind.
  10. I may get pissed one night soon and try it.
  11. When I still remember the original flirt divert number. 07774598750. Wonder if it's worth a call now? Maybe get through to 92 year old Doris in Scarborough who's recently inherited that number.
  12. Sorry sir, that's Mark and Lard territory. If anything reminds me of Scott it's "onnnnlllllytt bleyeyeteeyeey friiiiiiiddaaaaaayyyyyy!"
  13. If you're talking the dance shows. Around 1996 to 2004 were peak years for dance on Radio 1. 2 factors for that was dance music was at it's most creative that I can remember, tracks didn't burn out as easy and lots became staple anthems. Every genre was at the top of it's game. Secondly the BBC and Radio 1 in general had more budget and cash to splash. Meaning we got more live shows from Creamfields, Homelands, Ibiza etc. There was nothing like hearing Jules' Saturday show live from Creamfields in 2001 when the atmosphere was electric. Or Pete Tong's Essential Selection on a Friday, live from Ibiza at cafe mambo with the crowd in the back. Just made you want to be there. I think the current crop have picked things up in recent years. The quality of dance music around 10 years ago went through a very, very poor spell. And it was mostly Pete Tong and Annie Mac holding it all together for Radio 1, post Judge Jules, Dave Pearce era. Friday nights are decent right now with Danny Howard's energetic show, Sarah Story covering the deeper side of whats new. And then Pete Tong. We still live in a burnout world, I've noticed all 3 move on very fast from songs, and it's hard to keep up with what they are playing. Last years songs and memories are a million years ago, very few survive as anthems. Even though it will never be as 20 odd years ago, things are in a better place than 10 years ago imo.
  14. Never mind Kylie and Facelift being on the playlist. Jojo is back! Where the hell has she been!? "Get out, right naaawww!"
  15. It's never been the same since Mark Goodier went. Wes looked after the remains quite well for a few years after. But since CD singles, vinyl etc don't count at all anymore it's lost its magic a very long time ago.
  16. Radio 2 is changing so why not try it? We've been hearing less 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's recently on the old 2. Apart from standout massive tunes (Beatles, Sinatra, Queen, Blondie etc). The changes were brave but seem to have worked, so give bingo a go imo. I'd actually like celebrity call bought back for a one off too!

    Hello New Members!

Hello my name is Mr Wellington and I like the colour purple.
  18. You know I just must of missed her. The only ever bit of big brother I ever watched was in 2002. And I was on holiday in Spain, by that point it was down to around 4 so she must have just gone. I remember Jade, Kate and Jonny the fireman but not Adele.
  19. Here's Adele and Andi Durrant actually signing off Galaxy. Capital was coming to be "bigger bolder and brasher" as said. Lasted about 12 months before they became One Direction FM. Shame.
  20. Was she on the same one with Jade Goody? I was never into watching people eating toast at 7am on E4's red button. I remember her being on Galaxy mid 2000s pretty well.
  21. I'm old enough to remember when Adele and Andi Durrant were the last voices to be heard on Galaxy. Until Capital came along and ruined it.
  22. Does he do a good radio show and entertain people? Think that's kind of what really matters here. He may or may not be. But even if he is, it's probably not his style to keep bringing it up and throwing the fact at people in every link. Someone's sexuality has way too much fuss and focus these days anyway imo, people can possess other qualities too. It's not all about what and who they are attracted to, infact it's entitled to be a private matter for them anyway.
  23. It depends how many of the 1950s style old guard are still hanging on. It would be something else to moan about if there's enough of them.
  24. I'm sitting here wondering how long it's been since Steve Lamacq left Radio 1, who did that show but at an 8pm start for you whippersnappers. Feels like Zane has been gone an age too by now.
  25. Meh is the word, just background to me. I hear the odd interesting tune but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen. If I'm driving at that time I may have her on for an hour, but as soon as Jo Whiley comes on at 7 I switch over. Sometimes stay with Sara Cox beforehand.
