    .....whooooooooooooo!!?
  2. I'm guessing Kesha slept with Steve Lamacq, what a player.
  3. Scott Mills & Tim Westwood cover the Radio 1 chart show for Jk & Joel, March 2006: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vzi3ee5i8d7f5z3/Chart Show 19th March 2006.mp3?dl=0
  4. Radio 1 minus Scott's show, hasn't appaealed to me on the whole since 2004 really. I was 16 years old then. It's been happening for a long time now, and as a 28 year old I hardly give the station the time of day now. Radio 2's problem is that the start of their age range is much higher than 35. Apart from Simon Mayo, who I do listen to from time to time due to the fact he's a great broadcaster and I recall him from the latter end of his Radio 1 days. The rest is unbearable. I find Vine annoying, Steve Wright stuck in the 80's and Ken Bruce stuck even earlier in the 70's. I've never been a big fan of Evans anyway so I guess that's out of my point. Leaves people like me in no mans land, too old for Radio 1. Way too young to listen to Dr Hook on Radio 2.
  5. El Chombo - Chacaron. No? Ok then, PPK - Resurection.
  6. Have to post this. Wes Butters buggering up the end of Mark & Lard in March 2004, with Scott Mills somewhere in the middle apologizing for the break in transmission. Trying to hold in his laughter.
  7. I just aimlessly flick about the wireless trying to find Dr Dre, because everyone forgot about him. Or Wyclef Jean, but I've heard he's back in November.

It was our generation's time of "where were you when you heard" type of thing. It was bizarre watching the coverage on Sky News today, that everything had to be explained somewhat. Then you remember some people viewing may not know that much about it, they could of been small children or toddlers at the time. So wouldn't of remembered anything about it. Then I think Radio 1 should of done a piece on it today, it's kind of important for young people to know what happened. As it's a big part of why things are going on the way they are in the Middle East today. Anyway, I've stuck this together. It's not much but various other things I've scrambled from the internet over the years from 9/11 on Radio 1.

A sombre subject. But I'm finding it a bit hard to believe it's been 15 years since 9/11. I was watching one of the American news channels Fox recently, and a feature on there with familes who lost loved ones in the attack. Found it sad seeing kids who are now all grown up not remembering much of their lost loved one. Some were mere babies at the time. It was something that shaped so much since then, the Iraq/Afghanistan wars, and even today with the emergence of ISIS can be connected in some way back to that. I think it was the 'where were you when you heard' for my generation at least. I knew about it from listening to Mark & Lard, then the first 10 minutes of Chris Moyles on Radio 1 on my walkman until I got home from school and turned on the TV at 3.10. I was a mere school kid at the time, and as bad as it was it's a marker in your life where you remember the things you were doing then. Even looking at the Radio 1 lineup from that day, so much has changed. Apart from Scott, most of them have moved on. And the current crop of Radio 1 DJ's could of been kids themselves. Here's an interesting article written by Chris Price around the time of the 10th anniversary of the attacks:- http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/christopher-price/soundtracking-911_b_957331.html He was a Music Producer at the time, but has since returned to Radio 1 as head of music this year. An interesting read on how they dealt with the day.
  10. I like the way he drags everything oouuuttt in a Welsh styleee.
  11. If they get this right it could be fantastic. Chris Moyles had Tony Blackburn on his breakfast show in 2007 for 40 years, and Radio 1 had their DJ's talk to and pick up stories of Radio 1's long history. I make no bones about the fact that I'm a big fan of Mark & Lard's old show. Love them or hate them, nobody did or has since done a radio show quite like theirs was. Or in my view hasn't been as close to as funny. It'd be incredible if they asked them to do a one off reunion for this with their own playlist of songs from their Radio 1 days possibly, they both still are working for the BBC afterall at 6 Music. Or at least involve them in some way. Saying this, I'm skeptical of it all. I get the feeling sometimes that the Radio 1 heiarchy believe the world was only started up in 2009, and they seem to be ashamed somewhat of a history they should be proud of. So all in all we'll get some over rated bel end like Frank Ocean or a Ken West special live lounge. And that's about it.
  12. True. Then I think you had to be a specific type of audience to like them. You could usually associate their listeners more towards uni students and maybe 6th formers than Radio 1's younger crop at the time. Hence why afternoons were perfect. That and people were more awake to deal with their style. Matt is ok from what I've heard of him. But with the decline of the Breakfast show post Moyles, Radio 1 need to relaunch with something big. I think they may poach new talent for this.
  13. That won't happen. As much as I don't see how Danny's show is actually "Dance Anthems" when it's loads of fresh and mostly unreleased new dance music. Unlike Dave Pearce's version which was well established dance tracks that everyone knew. Radio 1 has always had a dance show in that time for years. Remember, Judge Jules used to be there from the late 90's into the early 2000's, and then moved to 7-9 on a Saturday night. It is at the perfect time as people are getting ready to go out. I do think Danny's show needs to be renamed though as it's a bit misleading with loads of upfront tunes. Maybe bring in a new presenter and put Dance Anthems on a Sunday evening, playing erm dance anthems. Where it always should of been.
  14. I think there has to be a change on Breakfast for starters, losing Moyles was a big blow and Radio 1 haven't really recovered since. Sadly there's nobody at Radio 1 in the wings right now to grab the bull by the horns and take things back like he did in 2003 after Sara Cox.
  15. I just looked aannnddd.... I'VE HAD A MESSAGE FROM MARA TOO!!! I feel so special.
  16. That's one reflective African spammer in his tin shed there.
  17. I like the way it was signed off, going to use that on any professional emails I write. HAPPY TO READ FROM YOUBYE....
  18. Moyles took me there really, can't stand Grimmy at that time of the morning or any time of day really.
  19. Back to April 2002 for an edition of Lard's Classic Cuts. Where master vinyl collector Marc Riley would spin a "mint condition" classic on Radio 1. Skip to 7:09 for just the classic cut without the chatter. This one is from Elvis Presley. I remember hearing this live and laughing so much my sides hurt.
  20. I'm down with the movers and the shakers these days. I was sent Cake By The Ocean by DNCE earlier this year, before it started to gain momentum in the UK. It was getting a lot of airplay at that time in the U.S. on mainstream stations like WTMX Chicago, one i usually drop into via a proxy (as it's supposed to be blocked outside the U.S.) The Aurora track is pretty good, on the Radio 1 playlist at the moment. I like Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, the one they play on Radio X at the moment. Think it's called 'You Know We Can't Go Back'.

  22. AlunaGeorge's new one called 'Mean What I Mean'. Was only sent it this week on promo from Island Records, will probably make the Radio 1 playlist next month/September.

No plans this year, last one I went to was Global Gathering 2 years ago. Fufilled a life long ambition to see the Prodigy. A lot of those friends have moved away since or just grown up. And at 28 I'm not young anymore so I feel those days are gone.
