  1. The chart show is so bonkers these days. Can't tell if it helps revive it or kills it off a bit?
  2. Aye, felt more like Jools Holland than Top of the Pops.
  3. You might have enjoyed it then. Elton John, Blur, Kylie Minogue, Rick Astley, bit of Sinead O'Connor in the tribute section. It felt like those who wanted to see the actual big artists of 2023 were left wondering what was there for them. Raye had a good year, but I wouldn't have devoted six minutes to her.
  4. I don't think they know who their audience is. Some music aimed at Gez Z and then loads of artists from the 80s still around today. All of the artists that would appeal across the ages they didn't have the rights to. Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, etc.
  5. You were right, on tonight and just a review of the year on BBC Two. A missed opportunity while Mrs Brown's Boys remains a Christmas Day fixture ?
  6. All three seem neck and neck in the poll.
  7. I don't know, the nationals seemed to suggest it was Christmas Day https://www.thesun.co.uk/tv/24882982/bbc-top-of-the-pops-christmas-day/
  8. Looks like Clara is presenting Christmas TOTP back on Christmas Day.

    Sound of 2023

These were the predictions for 2023. How did they do? Were they as big as expected? The top five artists for Sound of 2023 are: 1. FLO 2. Fred again.. 3. Nia Archives 4. Cat Burns 5. Gabriels Also on the longlist for Sound of 2023 (in alphabetical order): Asake Biig Piig Dylan piri & tommy Rachel Chinouriri
  10. I think we partly just got used to it.
  11. Scott was looking for songs to have played at his wedding today, and songs that he definitely doesn't want a band to play. I'd have thought the Gypsy Kings would be perfect for walking down the aisle in Spain!
  12. Blaming Scott for the fact we've had to go and replace all of our pillows. The yellow pillow discussion on the podcast and show was the final straw, we didn't want to be those people ?
  13. Hopefully just finding its feet. They could have brought more Jo Whiley clips out of the archive from Scott's Radio 1 shows I reckon
  14. Trying the Scott Mills Weekly. Had to ask for the Scott Mills podcast on Alexa. Think I need to clear our pillows out after listening!

    BBC Sounds Data

Looks like this is the solution to that problem!
  16. So they've taken on the Scott Mills Daily feed? Clever move. Surprised it's taken them so long! https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02nrv1j/episodes/player
  17. A nice listen to get some background about Sara. For those without time to listen, there's a transcript here: https://www.anniemacmanus.com/changes-podcast/sara-cox
  18. I think she's an asset to Radio 1 in terms of the brand. I mean I think they're both great.
  19. Must be some sort of announcement imminent then?
  20. Poor Chris. He probably thought he'd got away from speculation about his future when he left Radio 1 and now there seems to be questions about what he will do next!
  21. If he does want to stay or bosses want him to stay it always helps contract negotiations...
  22. Ah no, just as I was tuning in more often. Although unsurprising given The One Show stuff, we could see that coming, Sian and Chris is my suggestion ?
  23. I reckon maybe Will Manning & Aimee Vivian will host it together. Sian on afternoons and maybe Niall Gray on Drivetime (or the other way round). Chris could stay on breakfast or move with Sian. However, they may want a celebrity co-host like Heart. Will Manning presented with Sian & Chris earlier in the year while Roman was filming the quiz show so he may work slotted in. I think if Will moves to breakfast he might give up The Big Top 40.
