15 June 2017: Liam Payne read from the Perv Pad

The first look obsession

Scott introduced Chris to American wedding “first look” videos. A groom stood with his back turned while the bride approached in her dress, tapped him on the shoulder and waited for an emotional reaction.

Chris remained sceptical about the tears because the groom already knew what his partner looked like, but listeners confirmed that British couples were already considering the custom.

Charlie Puth answered from bed

Scott woke Charlie Puth in his hotel before his Live Lounge appearance. Charlie was tired after travelling through Europe and explained that fans had become skilled at discovering where he stayed, forcing him to use a succession of aliases.

He recalled checking in as “Eric Sean”, a name that sounded far less innocent when spoken aloud, while the current booking was jokingly attributed to Pauline Fowler.

Liam faced his admirers

Liam Payne then read messages selected from the Perv Pad, a tablet filled with especially forward comments from fans.

One admirer rewrote “Roses are red” around the beat dropping; another offered to climb Liam “like a tree” and invited him to strip her down. A final sequence involving baby oil and a hotel room left Liam searching for the point of the message.

He treated the lines with good humour, occasionally threatening to reuse them, while Scott found the exercise increasingly uncomfortable.
