Katie Thistleton and Emil Franchi crown their number-based afternoon anthem of choice

Going Home on Radio 1Recap of the show on

Katie Thistleton and Emil Franchi spent much of the show chasing a run of numbers after back-to-back songs gave "waist 36, leg 32" followed by "34 plus 35", sparking a hunt for a 5.30 anthem packed with numbers. Listeners flooded in with suggestions from Beyoncé's "7/11" to Arctic Monkeys and Hastings Direct's jingle, but Jay-Z's "99 Problems" won out, with Jack Saunders arriving in the studio just in time to approve the choice.

The daily Who's In The Box guessing game took a Halloween twist, with "wedding bells, funeral bells" as the clue. Katie and Emil got talked into guessing Ash by a producer, with Emil repeatedly insisting "it's not gonna be Ash," only for the answer to be revealed as Chapel… and the pair losing out after overruling their own instincts.

Joe, a motorsport mechanic from Liverpool, took on the Complete The Year challenge with 2020, correctly naming Lionel Messi, Dua Lipa and pulling out a surprise win on Zendaya's Emmy victory, saying "I've got to go back through the DC and then Marvel." He used his "beaver" clue on Hamilton and Batman questions before stumbling on the October Halloween costume question, guessing zombie when the answer was witch.

Earlier, listeners shared "claims to fame nobody knows," including a caller who said his grandad invented Domino's sauce and another who claimed to have grazed Geri Halliwell's arm while looking at a tortoise at Downing Street.
