26 September 2016: Innuendo Bingo reaches the British Library

A very wet creative lecture

Scott speaks at a radio festival inside the British Library about creativity, then demonstrates the principle by making Chris and Matt Fincham play Innuendo Bingo. Critics, executives and senior BBC figures initially appear uncertain, but gradually warm to the spectacle.

Only three clips are required, including a BBC West Midlands bird discussion that sounds considerably less innocent in the reading room. Chris immediately imagines a Bingo world tour through the O2, Royal Albert Hall and Sydney Opera House, while Scott reflects on performing the feature in front of one of the BBC’s most senior bosses.

Luke banks a month of podcasts

Listener Luke has deliberately avoided the programme for almost a month, saving 27 podcasts for an 11-hour flight to Los Angeles and the two-week trip that follows. Scott initially hears this as a break-up before understanding that Luke intends to return once the backlog is finished.

They preview what awaits him: David Beck-ham, Britain’s Best Bush, DJ BJ, the Max Branning tattoo and Chris putting his fingers through a plum tart. Luke resists further spoilers and receives a recommendation for a romantic meal at the Getty Center.

Judge Rinder becomes an online hit

Judge Rinder is buoyant after his first competitive Strictly performance. Scott praises the fireworks, twirls and enthusiasm but identifies a concentrated expression resembling a breathing fish. Craig Revel Horwood has already compared the look to collagen-filled lips.

Rinder scored 25 but is more interested in the millions watching his routine online. He credits Scott’s advice to appear as though he is enjoying himself and prepares for a harder second dance, while Oksana Platero rejects the idea of firing him from a cannon. Sam McTrusty of Twin Atlantic later completes a successful Live Lounge by beating Scott in Real or No Real.
