Joanne comes to Radio 1
Scott arrived from his first proper training session with Joanne Clifton and brought his new dance partner into the studio. He had managed to point his feet in the correct direction at least once, which was enough for him to declare the morning a success.
The reality of the work was already becoming clear. Joanne could not simply attend the radio programme every day, and the apparent confidence Scott displayed after practice still had to survive three weeks of choreography.
Sarah arrives prepared
Sarah Harding had watched enough Innuendo Bingo to bring a robe and a towel for her hair. She was also preparing for the final of BBC One’s Tumble, with bruised ribs, strapped limbs and a routine containing increasingly ambitious lifts.
Although Girls Aloud had performed years of choreography, Sarah admitted that remembering it had never been her strongest skill. She often positioned herself behind the other members and watched them when she needed help, which Scott found reassuring as he began his own dance training.
The mouth of Sloth returns
Charlie Sloth arrived on what Scott called “hip-hop time”. His capacity to hold close to a litre of water had become part of the game’s mythology, but Sarah believed her own large mouth could compete.
Scott warned her not to swear when the first cold spray arrived. Sarah and Charlie then turned the studio into a genuine water fight, with neither treating the game as a polite promotional appearance. The robe and towel proved to be sensible planning rather than theatrical excess.
Kiesza and Chris check in
Kiesza returned after her Live Lounge to play Real or No Real against Greg James. The programme was still making full use of Even More Music Month, moving performers directly from serious live sessions into increasingly implausible facts.
Chris remained in Bali. His messages mentioned lizards in his room, stress at a monkey sanctuary and efforts to take a convincing photograph with an elephant. Scott concluded that the promised life-changing trip had at least moved beyond Chris’s usual Greek-island routine.
Listeners also revealed their pre-date rituals. One man performed a biceps-only workout in his garage, while another used a carefully ordered playlist to raise and then calm his confidence before leaving home.
