Angelos Epithemiou reveals what is inside his bag
Listener Mars Bar introduced the show with the story of a Japanese tour bus being invaded by baboons at a safari park. The passengers had ignored warnings and opened the doors to take photographs, allowing the animals to rush inside, throw possessions around and escape with food. Scott responded with his own memory of a monkey stealing a Snickers and drinking bottled water while watching him shower through a glass door.
Scott reviewed Katy Perry’s concert film Part of Me, although he saw little reason for it to have been presented in 3D beyond a few bouncing balls. He agreed that Perry without stage make-up resembled Chris, admired her grandmother and warned Chris that the film became surprisingly emotional. He then spoiled the ending by revealing that the concert simply ended and Perry’s grandmother complained that it had been too loud.
Angelos Epithemiou returned to remember his nightly appearances at the previous year’s Fun and Filth Cabaret, including his interview with Dappy. He discussed his Channel 4 programme, his admiration for Amy Childs and Jodie Marsh, and his frustration whenever work made him miss Homes Under the Hammer. Although Angelos was not booked for the new Edinburgh run, Scott tried to persuade him to make an appearance.
Listeners had been guessing what Angelos carried in his bulging bag. He produced a doll’s head that he believed resembled Vin Diesel and a badly stained handkerchief, insisting that unusual discoveries had to be placed straight into the bag. Angelos explained that it was now triple-bagged because he kept adding things and suggested he might visit Edinburgh if his supposed Olympic jogging commitments did not earn him a medal.
The Edinburgh auditions continued with Helen licking her elbow, Craig performing Owl City’s “Fireflies” as Kermit and Miss Piggy, and Robin singing Katy Perry’s “Firework” in an operatic style. Scott felt Robin had made opera cool and gave him a strong recommendation to talent scouts Dan and Phil. The show also revisited posh noises, listeners downloading podcasts while travelling, the Eastern European “success” of “Mile High Club” and a celebrity-tweet quiz featuring Alan Carr, Dr Christian Jessen, Diana Vickers and Example.
