Scott arrived at Radio 1 to find a high-vis-wearing man apparently following him and loudly pointing out imaginary problems such as something being on his head. Scott recognised that years of pranking other people meant he had little right to complain, but he was already worried it would happen every day.

The programme revived its friendship-testing strand after Chris had passed the previous week’s challenge. This time Beccy told Scott’s friend Gary Pounder a supposedly confidential secret: Scott was missing an event because he was filming Embarrassing Bodies.

Gary did not keep it confidential for long. Within moments of talking to Scott, he was asking why he was doing the programme and which part of him might be embarrassing, leaving Beccy delighted at how quickly the fabricated story had travelled.

The team enjoyed Gary’s immediate regret, especially after he realised the call had been designed to catch him out. His failure contrasted sharply with Chris’s earlier loyalty and made the friendship test less a scientific experiment than a reliable way of causing trouble among their friends.

Matt Edmondson also joined the show ahead of his Brits coverage, recalling Beccy’s whipped-cream mishap with Justin Bieber and planning another red-carpet appearance. Between the prankster, the leaked secret and the forthcoming awards chaos, it was a programme built around people being placed in awkward positions.
