Chris loses all his clothes and Beccy becomes Pudsey’s girlfriend
The show began with a glimpse of The Wanted preparing to meet fans in another studio. The group had found one can of deodorant between them and, to Scott’s amusement, it belonged to a boss who preferred women’s deodorant. Scott announced over the studio speaker that the band had to “go up”, which accidentally made the scene sound far more dramatic than it was.
Chris then revealed the reason he had very little to wear. As the designated washer in his flat, he had put a pile of clothes into a bin bag to take to a laundrette, only for the bag to be confused with actual rubbish while his flatmate was clearing things out. The bin lorry had collected it before Chris realised, and he was left calculating whether a visit to the tip might rescue his shirts and shorts.
Scott and Beccy did not give him much hope. A listener who worked at a waste-transfer station said the clothes were likely already heading towards landfill, while Chris worried about specific items and briefly wondered whether somebody might put his pants on eBay. The discussion also resurrected an old explanation involving Danny Howard, ice and trousers, which Scott acknowledged sounded bizarre without the original feature.
Beccy meanwhile had two pieces of good news: her fire warden jacket had arrived and she had been asked to be Pudsey Bear’s girlfriend, Blush, for Children in Need. Scott was delighted by the idea and repeatedly pressed her to accept, while Beccy tried to establish how a fictional bear could have a girlfriend. The team quickly corrected Scott’s implication that Pudsey was simply a man in a costume for the benefit of younger listeners.
For the Radio 1 film, Chris sent Stupid Street out to create sound effects after failing to do the job himself. The results included attempted curtains, a spaceship and Olly Murs in a portaloo, with Scott and Beccy judging which were usable. The programme also played a celebrity-tweet game and left Beccy preparing for a very unusual Children in Need role.
