Beccy sings Chris’s Batman disappointment
Chris’s Batman dream ended when he did not get the role. The team had found a newspaper photograph of the eventual performers, whose superhero physiques made Chris’s own audition look even more optimistic in retrospect.
Beccy gave the setback a proper show-business send-off by making it the subject of a song. Scott revelled in Chris’s insistence that he had been close, even though the picture of the selected Batmen told a rather different story.
The result was a cheerful conclusion to the first big running joke of 2011. Chris had gone from a full-costume journey across London to a public rejection, but the programme made sure he got a memorable soundtrack for it.
