Can a buried sausage stop the rain?
Lucy and Dan contacted Scott on the day before their wedding.
The entire celebration was planned outdoors, but weather forecasts disagreed over whether the day would remain dry.
They had heard the superstition that burying a sausage at the wedding venue could prevent rain.
The couple needed practical instructions: whether the sausage should be meat or vegetarian, raw or cooked, full-sized or cocktail.
The sausage rules
Wedding workers and listeners supplied competing versions of the tradition.
Some believed the sausage should be uncooked, others insisted it should be burnt first, and one make-up artist suggested using a chilli sausage for hotter weather.
The only consistent instruction was that it should be buried at the venue the night before the wedding.
Lucy and Dan prepared to conduct the experiment despite the lack of a definitive rulebook.
The Birthday Game: Steve
Steve from Halifax turned 57 and worked on a golf course.
He described his extended birthday celebrations as a “full bag of mashings”, a Yorkshire expression meaning the full works.
Steve wanted dance music, Faithless, Jamiroquai, George Michael or piano house, while explicitly ruling out the Beatles and Robbie Williams.
His first spin was Cher Lloyd’s Swagger Jagger. Steve rejected it.
The second was KC and the Sunshine Band’s Give It Up. He said he absolutely loved the song but gambled anyway.
His compulsory third song was Wet Wet Wet’s Love Is All Around, which spent 15 weeks at number one in 1994.
Steve admitted he should have kept KC and the Sunshine Band.
Olympic Village muffins
Scott also followed the online excitement surrounding the chocolate muffins served in the Olympic Village.
Norwegian swimmer Henrik Christiansen had become closely associated with them, although other athletes suggested the muffins were being overhyped.
Handover
Scott handed over after warning listeners not to reject a Birthday Game song they genuinely loved.
