6 August 2024: Stacey Dooley cycles through celebrity court cases

The Birthday Game: Anna

Anna turned 55 and worked in infection prevention and public health.

She described much of her job as telling people to wash their hands and cover their noses when coughing or sneezing.

At home, decorator Tony was working on her lounge after hip problems stopped Anna doing the work herself.

She was considering a deep blue colour called Denim Drift but worried it might become too dark at night.

Anna hoped to travel to see the Northern Lights and eventually the Big Five on safari.

Her first spin was Blu Cantrell and Sean Paul’s Breathe. She rejected it.

The second was Shakin’ Stevens’ Green Door. She nearly kept it but gambled.

Her compulsory final song was Robbie Williams’ Rock DJ, the lead single from Sing When You’re Winning and a Brit Award winner.

Anna was delighted with the final result.

Stacey Dooley’s Spinterview

Stacey joined Scott in the celebrity spin studio.

The conversation covered her documentary work and the BBC Sounds series Famously… On Trial.

Stacey explained that the podcast revisited celebrity legal disputes people often remembered only as headlines, then explored the evidence and what happened afterwards.

Katy Perry and the convent

Scott had listened to the episode about Katy Perry’s attempt to buy a convent.

The nuns connected with the property had not supported the sale, leading to a complicated and extraordinary court dispute.

Stacey avoided revealing the complete ending and encouraged listeners to hear the full episode.

Cool-down choice

Stacey selected Janet Jackson’s Got ’til It’s Gone as her cool-down track.

Listeners tuning in midway through the cycling worried that she sounded close to tears, but Scott reassured them she was simply exercising hard.

Radio 2 in the Park

With one month remaining until Preston, listeners sent excited messages about securing tickets.

Handover

Scott handed over after recommending Stacey’s podcast and confirming that the Spinterview had not emotionally broken her.
