Alan’s Emmy news
Scott began with the moment Alan Cumming received an unexpected telephone call during an interview on BBC Radio Scotland.
His agent told him live on air that he had received an Emmy nomination.
Scott congratulated Alan and questioned why an agent had called without checking that he was already being interviewed.
The Traitors US
Alan discussed hosting the American version of The Traitors.
He described the programme as more theatrical and even more camp than its British counterpart and said he was proud of the heightened performance he brought to the castle.
Scott strongly recommended the series to listeners watching through BBC iPlayer.
The High Life
Scott revisited Alan’s 1990s BBC Two comedy The High Life.
Alan and Forbes Masson had played flight attendants working for the fictional Scottish airline Air Scotia.
Alan explained that Sebastian Flight’s surname was a reference to Brideshead Revisited, but spelt as an airline joke.
Victor and Barry
Alan and Forbes had first created Victor and Barry during drama-school cabarets before taking the characters to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Their new book, Victor and Barry’s Kelvinside Compendium: A Meander Down Memory Close, marked around 40 years since the characters’ festival debut.
Alan wanted the book to feel like a colourful annual somebody might receive at Christmas.
The Birthday Game
The Wednesday contestant faced three number-one records from 24 July.
Scott also noted that George Michael’s Careless Whisper was approaching its 40th anniversary and could soon appear on the spinner.
Handover
Scott handed over after admitting that he had run out of time before asking Alan about working with Cher.
