Rylan Nobby
After meeting Sandy, whose former surname Clark had earned her the nickname Nobby, Scott investigated the tradition.
He discovered that people called Clark had often been known as Nobby Clark, including in the Royal Navy.
Rylan Clark joined the programme by phone and accepted that this made him “Rylan Nobby”.
Scott had already commissioned new jingles, including “This is Rylan Nobby” and “Radio 2, Rylan Nobby”.
Rylan promised to play them on his Saturday show without explanation.
Some listeners pointed out that the traditional form should be Nobby Clark, but Scott preferred his own version.
Brendan heads back to España
Scott replayed Brendan Sheerin’s complaint about the British weather.
The Coach Trip star said he had suffered enough cold in Ilkley and was returning to “España”.
Listeners called for Brendan to become a regular contributor.
The Birthday Game: Carl
Carl from Tenby turned 54 and had been a town crier in Monmouth at only 15.
He was hoping husband Paul had booked an expensive birthday dinner for 7.30pm.
Carl wanted the Pet Shop Boys because he shared his birthday with Neil Tennant.
His first spin was Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg with California Gurls. He rejected it.
The second was Usher’s Burn. Carl rejected that too.
His compulsory final song was Olivia Newton-John and ELO’s Xanadu.
Carl had watched the film only a few days earlier and described it as a poor movie with an excellent soundtrack.
He considered Xanadu easily the best song on the spinner.
Handover
Scott handed over after giving Rylan a nickname that immediately required several new jingles.
